Located in the middle of high rocky mountains, this beach offers breathtaking views that make you feel like you've stepped into a different world. The clear, refreshing waters of the are perfect for a dip on a hot day, and the surrounding landscape is simply stunning. The combination of lush greenery and towering cliffs creates a serene and magical atmosphere. Whether you're looking for a peaceful to relax or an adventurous hike through the mountains, Fragas de São Simão has it all. Highly recommend! Well worth the short from the car park. If you park in the lower carpark you can cross a footbridge and beside the river. The swimming area is fantastic! Beautiful waterfalls which you can swim in. Feels like a hidden and completely free to access. Toilets available here and also a cafe but wasn't open when we went. Staircase down the mountain to it which is very cool and some great views. A beautiful to visit.Either have a dip in the freshwater pools or the trail past the schist houses and old mill. The waterfall is stunning.A place of peace and tranquility in the Figuero Dos Vihnos region. You could spend a whole day here or just a quick visit.Have good walking shoes on though as it can be steep and stony. Nature at its best. Wonderful place tucked away between the mountains. The water is cold and clean. The air is fresh and scented. Can be a bit crowded sometimes but it is always a place to visit. Now there are some wooden pathways connecting the main spots. Beautiful nature sights, places to walk, cosy atmosphere, lots of place to have picnics. Safe to swim! One of the best beaches I have been to, and I have seen a lot!! Lots of quiet corners, out of the sun if that's your thing when it's 37oC! But the main waterfalls (in the sun) are amazing 😍😍 Very pretty and tranquil. Worth a stop. A few parking bays available so you can decide how much you would like to walk. One of the best natural place I have visited in my life. Must see. Beautiful place! For someone who is looking for a peaceful and quit place I would avoid it at least on busy days, but keep in mind that there are spots for everyone along the river, it will be busy on the common where people usually take a swim. If you are curious try to pass the rocks, following the river's headwaters, there you'll find a frame to take photos! If you pay attention, you'll notice that the rocks along the felt from the mountains, as you can see some big wholes there. Breathtaking little gem. The cold water spring has a café located near by. A great way to disconnect from media and enjoy the nature all around you. Absolutely fantastic river, rocks and very cold swimming in pools! 😎 The down and back up is not for the faint hearted when in the heat, but very worthwhile. Lot's of places to swim, jump around on rocks, jump from rocks and chill. The back up takes some doing, but if you have been in the iced cold water, it's a walk, but you don't need a gym leg day afterwards! 😂 Definitely worth a stop! ❤️ This is possibly one of the more precious and natural beaches in the central region of Portugal Cool place, clean water (but cold, very). Parking free nearby.
