The Historical Museum in Klissura is one of the 100 national tourist sites of Bulgaria and a center of cultural and educational life of the city for decades. It is housed in the commemorative "Chitalishte pametnik-museum", built on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the April uprising and opened on 2 May 1926. Funds for its construction have been collected for 30 years from the acknowledged locals and their fellow citizens scattered throughout Bulgaria. Among the most valuable exhibits of the museum is the preserved original bell, which announces the beginning of the April uprising in the fateful 20 April 1876 - two hours after the announcement of the uprising in Koprivshtitsa.
