It's is something that everyone should try. I definitely recommend it. And the small musical concert inside the salt mine is a sensational experience. 10/10 for that. The only reason I gave one ⭐ is that I bought the souvenir from their shop and it's absolutely CRAP! I thought that being a salt mine they would provide some genuine stones in this small crate. But to my surprise they seem to have collected some pebbles from their backyard and put inside this cute little box with a nice chart of which stones we could find. It's a SCAM & DISHONEST on their part and they charge 10€ for one box. Out of 4 boxes, all of them have different stones, and different quantity! So please don't buy these. If there was an option to give minus 10 stars I would give them!!! Fun experience, plenty of history, spiced up with slides, music & light show, topped up with stories about treasures. This was such a cool experience. The 2 slides inside were such a surprise and you got to be a kid again for a minute. The history of 1945 and the hidden storage of artworks and weapons was really interesting. Had a great time! Salt and its processes are very interesting. It's worth to visit. You will have 90 minutes tour to learn everything about this salt mine. There are two slides making the tour really funcy. At the end of the tour there is an amazing music - light show. There is free parking space outside of entrance. A must visit place if you are in Hallstatt, take a funicular to the top of the mountain (2- 3 hrs). Go for the look outpoint and have lunch there to enjoy the view of Lake Hallstatt ; another 3 hours is also needed for this portion. It is both fascinating and moving to see where masterpieces of world art were once stored and to hear the details of that time. Unlike the more touristy Hallstatt mine, Altaussee feels unique and authentic, with its own special historical importance. The highlight of the visit is the final part – the concert hall with an underground lake. The perfect combination of lights and music creates a breathtaking atmosphere that words can hardly describe – a truly magical that must be seen in person.
