Kula Turnina, located just outside Rovinj, Croatia, is an ancient fortress offering a glimpse into the region’s rich history. Perched on a hill, it provides stunning panoramic views of Rovinj and the surrounding landscapes. The fortress, dating back to late antiquity, has witnessed numerous reconstructions and served as an observation tower during World War II. Visitors can explore its remnants and enjoy photography opportunities, especially at sunrise or sunset. Accessible by car or foot, Kula Turnina is a must-visit for history buffs and those seeking a scenic, tranquil spot. Enjoyed my walk up to these ruins but it was very foggy so no views today. Defo worth a visit in sunny weather to get the views. I parked at the side of a unmade up road just off the main road and walked up in 20 mins. I couldn't find a specific car park and used my phone to find the track up. Old Fortress Ruins. Panoramic View of Rovinj Calm, historic and scenic spot overlooking the entire area. Easy to reach via a 10min walk from the nearby road. The tower or whats left from it dates back to the 9th century according to the folks working in the excavation site. Amazing view to Rovinj and seaside. Very nice place to visit Great Site - Super place to built a watch tower, A shame that the tower was demolished during WW2, I talked with people that were working at the site, Next to what we can see at the surface- there is prove that place was already used during the Bronze-age. Not just here - Maklavun, 2km North West is another archeological site Located just outside Rovinj, it is a great viewpoint from which you can see Rovinj, Brijuni islands and Pula. Very quiet and peaceful location. To get there it takes 10-15min climb up a well maintained road and path, however there are no signs and direction to fort. Bring a hat during summer, you won't find much shade. It's bigger than what you would expect from the photos. Not that special but still rather pleasant to explore if you are in the area. Takes around 20 minutes to see everything. The view from the top is quite nice too.
