Excellent and tasting. Our guide coached us in evaluating oil quality, including aroma (fruitiness), back of mouth taste (bitterness), and swallow taste (pungency). Pairing with a couple of foods helped show the differences in oils tasted. Very enjoyable experience. Very good prices for good quality oil. Bought their dried salt which was portable and delicious! Highly recommend visiting this mill! We had a fantastic of the facilities, very informative and engaging. We learned a lot about how extra virgin oil is made, as well as tips on how to buy, taste, and store it properly. The oil itself is absolutely delicious, with a rich, fruity flavor. Definitely worth a visit, and don’t leave without picking up a few bottles! The guide was fantastic. I learned a lot about the entire process of producing oil, the different types of oil, and other important information that enriched my general knowledge. The people are welcoming, and the oil is fabulous! A superbly informative and enlightening tour. You can book online or call. We arrived at 10:30am for the and were joined by just one couple. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and informative. Learned so much about the process for making oil and the history of the Protoulis business. As well as walking through the factory with new equipment, the original mill and presses from the old production were on display. There is opportunity for oil tasting and purchasing at the end of the tour. Highly recommend. Great experience at Protoulis Mill! The small museum, presentation, and tasting were all very well done. Their oils are amazing — a must-visit for true oil lovers! We had an incredible experience at Protoulis Master Oil Makers, thanks in large part to the exceptional hospitality and professionalism of Vlasios Nisiotis. I was able to book a tasting and for a group of 18 online, and from start to finish, Vlasios went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. His email communication was clear, prompt, and thoughtful, and he followed up multiple times to ensure all of our needs and accommodations were being met. He even contacted our hotel to assist with transport options, which was a huge help since we were traveling from about an hour away. It was absolutely worth it! The was fascinating and eye-opening. We walked away with a much deeper appreciation for the incredible care, craftsmanship, and labor that goes into producing high quality oil. The facility also has a rich history, which made the visit even more meaningful. The highlight of the day was the oil tasting led by Vlasios himself. His knowledge and passion were inspiring, and we learned so much about how to evaluate oils by smell, taste, and quality. Everyone in our group ended up purchasing oil to bring home - it truly was that good! This was an unforgettable experience that combined education, tradition, and true Cretan hospitality. We highly recommend Protoulis to anyone visiting the area, and we can’t thank Vlasios Nisiotis enough for making it so special. Really great experience! The guided is really nice, I learned a lot about the touching story of their family business. Everything for only 5€, good value for money. They explain exactly all types of oils and how to taste it like a pro. Loved it Great by Valais. The heritage, the history and the tastings were superb. Really enjoyed learning about the oil making process. The new experimential ouzo flavoured oil was a real treat. Also privileged to see to the factory in operation due to the late harvest still bringing in olives. Would definitely recommend.
