It was a very wet day and my friends suggested a to the Garioch in Inverurie. Entrance is free but you can leave a donation. Once again, I was delighted that George, a volunteer, came with me to explain some of the exhibits. There is a lot to see and read up about it is so interesting. I really liked the story about the Aberdeen Canal (1805 - 1852), and the recovery of the last canal boat which is proudly on display. If you intend to give yourself time to take in all you will see. There is also a small cafe which is also run by volunteers and it was really good. Well and truly worth a visit. Garioch Heritage Centre was an amazing stop on my Inverurie adventure. I started with a quick toastie at the café before heading upstairs to explore the historical displays. The exhibits are thoughtfully arranged and packed with fascinating details about the area’s past. The best part of my was Andrew. He caught up with me at the Queen Victoria exhibit and shared so much knowledge about the town, making the experience even more special. I truly appreciate the time he took to chat, as it added so much depth to my visit. This Centre is a must-visit for anyone interested in local history. The welcoming atmosphere and incredible make it a truly memorable stop. Highly recommend! We visited for the Lego Bricks of Wonder exhibit and ventured upstairs afterwards to see the and all loved it. The youngest was enthralled with the war memorabilia, middle was intrigued with the toys from the 50s and 60s and the eldest loved the 'old' electronic items. Me and himself enjoyed the history of Inverurie Paper Mill very much. They change exhibits often and have lots of events for children and crafters. Well worth a which is easy to book online So cool, felt very cool to see the local history so well presented. I proud to be local when this is our local museum. Great heritage building and lovely and volunteers. Highlight was the Queen Victoria dress. Interesting place to visit, full of local history and great to see old things I can remember as a child.They was an arts display while we were there which was good, they also have a small cafe. Garioch Heritage Centre has an extensive collection of artefacts, photographs and information from around Garioch, the heart of Aberdeenshire, and is housed in the former Locomotive Works Carriage and Waggonworks building. The are extremely friendly and informative! Lovely place for a visit, with very friendly and welcoming staff. I was surprised that there was no entry fee to the itself, only the special exhibition, but that makes it easy for anyone currently doing the Big Hop Trail to see all the Little Hops that are in the museum! I was more than happy to leave a donation in lieu of a ticket price. We also had a light lunch in the cafe which was really good. There was a special on the menu for a croissant with smoked salmon and cream cheese, but the were more than happy to change it to a sandwich for me. Lovely selection of cakes and bakes too!
