On the way from Kavala to Edirne, we decided not to use the highway and to visit the Nestos park area, more specifically the St. Nicholas monastery, which appeared on an island in Google Maps. The location is dreamy, it seems like a little corner of heaven, the crossings over the water are made on long bridges between the monasteries. The monasteries are dedicated to St. Nicholas. Dress code is required upon entry. In the water, which looks like a fresh water lake and which is shallow, you can see many fish, in fact the whole area is full of life. There is also a shop with ecclesiastical items, but also with products such as creams, oil, wine, some of them coming from Mount Athos, according to a monk. Anyway, if you end up in the Xanthi - Komotini area it's definitely worth a visit of at least an hour. It was a nice place but I could not use the bathroom A very beautiful and quiet place, although the road is not far away, all you hear are the numerous fish jumping. Unique in any case. Everyone should visit this old and very well preserved place if they are in the area. This place has been carefully preserved for so long; it's truly fascinating. In the middle of an island, it had a very peaceful ambiance. It was a bit windy, so wearing a hoodie is a must, especially in spring. Definitely worth seeing. Beautiful place, we thank God that we managed to get there and see it and say a prayer for our loved ones. To our surprise, one of the monks from the shop spoke a little Romanian, which made our experience even more pleasant. Definitely stop here on the way back to Turkey. You ll be not regret. It's free. This place is truly unique. At the entrance, there are vendors selling chickpeas and similar legumes. Anyway, let's get to the point—this place has a very distinctive story. I recommend you research why a second church was built here. The contrast between sky, water and the architecture on the little islands let me feel calm and fulfilled. This feeling motivated me to capture my impressions and do my own souvenirs. If you are interested, let me know. I can send you my design :) Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
