Busy place with music blaring. Waiters are a bit annoying with their over antics. The food was disappointing. Sausage was too salty. Beef meh. The was tasty though and fresh. Be careful with the beer. They offer small medium and large, note the large is 1ltr, they won’t tell you this. The medium beer was a pint. Prices are and value is decent. Very busy restaurant, I guess this is one of the best in town. Food was great, we enjoyed it so much. Better not order drink after finishing your food when you see there is a line of waiting, cuz the staff will ask you to take the drink with you and stand on the side of the restraint to finish it so they can give the table to the others. If i could give this place 6 across the board, I would. Just around the corner from Faro cathedral, lovely small local with absolutely excellent food. We had the cheese salad, Mackrell brunette, gazpacho soup and fried prawns. Each of them tasted fresh and delicious and the was so and welcoming. Thoroughly recommend this place and hope to make it back. Thank you so much. We stopped by this little town before continuing our road trip to Seville and boy were we happy to have eaten there! The tapas were and both kids and adults enjoyed the and the sausage. We had such a time here we came back the next day for dinner as well. The food is amazing and the is and genuine. They play music and everyone is happy! The staff are so as well. The prawns were the highlight for me and the wine as well it’s worth getting a bottle because it’s so drinkable. Although I felt that the was not so fresh, it was hard to cut, and we have had many times in Portugal. Otherwise everything would have been perfect. Highly recommended! The food was absolutely amazing and well worth the wait for a table for two. The staff were incredible, always smiling and attentive and managed to provide despite over 20 people waiting and around 50 already seated. This is an I’ll never forget. Everything was very good, especially the salad, one of the best if not the best I’ve tried! Also got the red sangria, which unfortunately was not worth the price. Place had a nice atmosphere and have no complaints about the service. A Truly Exceptional Experience! This is hands down the best I've been to! The food was absolutely delicious — every bite was full of flavor and clearly made with love. The was equally impressive; the staff went above and beyond to make me feel right at home. This seems busier than its neighbours and rightly so. Lunch times are easier to grab a table where you might a wait in the evening. Honestly just wait in line to go here rather than caving in and going to a neighbouring restaurant. We had a at this charming and cozy in Faro. The staff were super and made us feel very welcome. We tried the octopus, clams, Portuguese sausage and a fresh with cheese – all incredibly tasty! The white sangria was truly special. Highly recommended if you're in town! I had a late lunch in Faro at the ‘Old Tavern’ last week, and it was fantastic! We ordered the fried octopus, fried prawns, and roasted grilled sausage, and everything was absolutely delicious. The was great, and the atmosphere really added to the experience. All in all, we paid 50 euros for everything, which felt like a deal for the quality of food we got. I highly recommend this place! Loved this place so much that we went two nights out of our four day trip! Got to really explore the menu which was fabulous. Had from Mario, making us laugh a lot!! Gave us some cheeky shots and banter. Love the vibe with music fabulous food. I would recommend the mackerel salad, the cheese board and the garlic prawns. In a sea of overpriced restaurants with little atmosphere aimed at extracting money from tourists, the Old Tavern offers something a bit different. Run by a colorful, and hard-working group of lads who are clearly passionate about providing not just food, but a too, you’ll sample dishes such as the Portuguese sausage that’s set alight at the table, gazpacho with incredible depth of flavor, or a perfectly seared tuna steak. We jealously watched many other traditional dishes being delivered to other guests that we’d have loved to have sampled too, if appetite had allowed. These are all served in a vibrant setting and lively atmosphere, making for a true taste of what Portugal has to offer, and topped off with a complimentary shot shared with one of the owners to help wash the meal down. This doesn’t go unnoticed, as whilst many other restaurants were virtually empty on a Saturday night, there was a queue of punters waiting for tables to become free at the Old Tavern. Overall, the best gastronomic we had during our week in the Algarve and we’ll most certainly be returning for round two.
