The site is named for the synagogue that was built here but destroyed by the Germans during Krystalnach 1938. You can see the outlines of where the synagogue stood with a brief explanation of the place. Well situated place, next to the heart of the town. After reconstruction this is a carfree zone 'where living is easy'. Near tram stations and the freiburg hbf...it is a place to stop-by and take a moment to breathe while watching people come and go.. Though i think the city can develop it more. The space could've been used better It's such a big square with so much wasted potential It's a prominent spot in the middle of Freiburg, the remodeling made it into something cleaner and with lots of opportunity to sit and observe others going past. Der Platz imponiert durch seine großartige Form und gemütlichen, warmen Steinen. Hab leider meine gesamte Lernzeit verschlafen. Beautiful area close to the university.
