A lovely green area with a wonky (falling over ruins) castle! The are not massive, but they seem to be well maintained and looked after. Views from here are also excellent as your on top of a hill...! This was a short walk (albeit a few steps upwards) from our trip out on the Severn Railway (with Bridgnorth being the furthest station along the route). The and castle, or what remains of it, stand on the 'High Town' cliffs with great views. The dates from the Norman era but, during the Civil War, Royalist Bridgnorth was attacked by Cromwell's troops and the destroyed...only parts of the keep remain and they lean at rather a precarious angle! We visited the whilst in Bridgnorth. There's not much of the left after it was destroyed a couple of centuries ago. There is a caravan there that serves a lovely latte. There was a scarecrow competition in the garden area. Made us laugh. Bridgnorth 🏰 was destroyed during the English Civil War with its views and commanding place overlooking the Severn Valley. Beautiful and peaceful. Nice grounds set under the ruins. Nice little ice crean van there lovely place to picnic. Only two mins from town centre Small park in the town. Has its own leaning tower. Not much parking and dogs on leads Charming well looked after offering post card views Bridgenorth is a remarkable place, it's by the Severn, has a and a cliff railway! Very few abandoned shops plus some independent shops sprinkled around, clean and well maintained hanging baskets and parks. Worth a visit. Brilliant place very lively on Saturday. With an excellent market which spans down the high street. With excellent antique shops. If you've never been you won't be disappointed. Pluss Brilliant places to eat would highly recommend the pub food excellent atmosphere great too. So go on enjoy yourselves x The is going to fall on you !!!!! No, it isn't really. It's been like it for about 350 years. Hopefully, it is not going anywhere soon!! Beautiful sunny, the box look good a little early to see the bedding plants. There are lots of nice benches and grass to have a picnic. (Chips from High Town Grill) Wonderful views of the surrounding Shropshire hills. You can get to the from the bridge from the Severn Valley Railway Station. The are also a little walk from the top town (this is what our family calls the area) past the cliff railway top station. I saw this beautiful place while visiting the small town and I'm so glad I made the stop. This place is small but oh so beautiful. You cannot see much of the just ruins scattered around among the amazing gardens. These are beautifully maintained and you can walk along the pathways and see all the different flowers and plants. Doggies do need to be kept on the lead at all times. Please be mindful that there's not really parking, apart from the street parking in front which allows only 30min of free parking for non residents. I'd recommend you park at the bottom of the fourth and walk up the stairs to the ruins.
