Located in the middle of vineyards, you can rent a bike and explore the surroundings, food was average, but was amazing. The tasting is highly recommended, Matus the sommelier is very knowledgeable and fun, makes it very interesting and is insanely enthusiastic about his job. If you want to visit Tokaj, this is definitely the best place to stay. Chateau GRAND BARI was recommended to us by the hotel we stayed at, and it was a fantastic suggestion. My wife loves and wanted to visit a winery in Slovakia, and this place is about as close to the Slovak-Hungary border as you can get. She thoroughly enjoyed the and cheese selections, and the desserts we tried were fantastic. The views of the surrounding area were stunning! Overall, for our brief trip there, we had a experience. The manager was pretty arogant. Yes, the place is beatyful but if your manners are like villager in local pub, its just bad. I was here 2 years ago with my family, and I had a positive experience, a professional waitress, good food, very nice place. So I decided to take my boyfriend here. We were disappointed. The tables weren't clean, even though it certainly wasn't crowded with customers, we ordered lemonades, coffee and dessert. The waiter was kind, but managed to mix up our order twice. Which I would understand on a busy day, but customers were only at 4 tables at that time. The lava cake was great, but the ice cream cup was very mediocre for the price. We appreciate the discount for the complications with our order. But this shouldn't happen, not twice in a row, with the same table and a simple order. The surrounding area is beautiful, as is chetau itself. Hopefully, the restaurant will keep up with the rest. I had a wonderful experience here. Stayed for one night, and I may have been the only overnight guest. Service at check in, and later at an early dinner and tasting was excellent. Both the wines and good were great. The room was nice, with a comfortable bed, balcony overlooking the vineyard, and a well appointed bathroom. The included breakfast was huge! Everything from fresh cooked eggs, to fresh fruit, to meat and cheeses. Prices are fair for location and experience. Highly recommend. Also, I’m currently biking across Europe and they were kind enough to store my bike in their garage over night. We attended a Saturday tasting led by Matus and had a wonderful time (the large group size even made it more fun in the cellars!) The was delicious and we had a experience overall.
