Went to see light festival over Christmas 2024. Very good but would have been to see more artistic light installations by artists themselves. Not just lighting up trees. Lots of space and free parking normally. Lots of history, very friendly volunteers and walks outside. All at an amazing price. Learnt so much about the Battle of Northampton during the War of the Roses with the battlefield just outside. Lots of things for kids to do as well. Also enjoyed lunch at the Orangery. Absolutely loved our here using our Historic Houses membership. Fantastic guide and only two others in the group. grounds , a piece of tranquillity in the centre of Northampton. Not much open yet if you go at the beginning of the week but not season yet . Only down side is that the cafe often doesn't seem organised, and staff, on a few occasions, seem flustered . This is what I called it home. Got alot of memories with delapre loved, touched, feeled and photographed every plant and flower. I cured my depression here. A peaceful and beautiful place to unwind. There’s a coffee shop on-site serving delicious coffee and pastries, with both indoor seating and a charming outdoor terrace. The Abbey itself is rich in history, and the grounds are beautifully maintained, with open spaces, gardens, and wooded trails. Whether you're into history, fitness, nature, or just a relaxing stroll with your dog, Delapré Abbey is a hidden gem in Northampton. I’ll definitely be returning! cafe and grounds Well worth a visit. There is plenty of ground and garden to walk and have an explore. Inside, there are interactive activities suitable for the young and old which help with learning about living in the past. To finish, do not leave without having a drink and bite to eat in the cafe. A quiet location within Northampton for a walk with or without a dog which includes a historic building, walled garden and walks to and around a lake. To round it off there is also a very restaurant called the Orangery that serves good meals as well as coffee and cakes. We had the southern fried chicken burger which was easily one of the nicest meals I have had in a long time. Free parking and a gift shop. Would recommend a visit. However the only café open was the Orangery Restaurant which was quite unsatisfactory - very expensive and didn't have several things on the menu such as hot chocolate or even skimmed milk. There are lots of and scenic walks to do. The cafe is reasonably priced and the staff are friendly. Historical and cultural place. Various events are organised in certain periods. The building is also beautiful. A peaceful place in green and I often go for a walk here. Classics on the Lawn: A Delightful Day of Vintage Vehicles Classics on the Lawn was a delightful event held at Delapre Park in Northampton, offering a nostalgic journey through with a stunning array of vintage vehicles. One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity to chat with fellow enthusiasts and learn about their passion for these timeless machines. I had a particularly interesting conversation with a gentleman about the future of electric cars and the potential for preserving the spirit of vintage vehicles. I suggested that a promising approach would be to combine the retro aesthetics of classic cars with the latest electric technology, similar to the innovative Renault R7 remake. This idea sparked a thought-provoking discussion about how we can ensure that the love for classic vehicles continues to thrive in a rapidly evolving automotive landscape. As the event drew to a close, the park emptied out, leaving behind only a Ford Mustang and a 1972 V12 Jaguar E-Type Series 3. I took a photo to capture the striking contrast between these two vehicles, representing the old and the new. After the Mustang departed, the Jaguar remained, a fitting metaphor for the winner of the show. To my surprise, I discovered that the Jaguar belonged to none other than Alan Homes, a renowned figure in the classic car world whose Avv1 has won numerous car concours. Overall, Classics on the Lawn was a fantastic event that provided a wonderful opportunity to appreciate the beauty and heritage of vintage cars. The combination of stunning vehicles, knowledgeable enthusiasts, and a picturesque setting made for a truly memorable occasion. What a beautiful place! Had one the best coffee here. Staff were welcoming and helpful - just a great place to enjoy. Exceptional entertainment, experience and a evening. We would highly recommend going to one of these evenings. It was our 1st Amazing We don't live nearby, and learned by chance about the Abbey, well worth the 45 minute drive to visit, (and free entry with HHA membership). A warm welcome by volunteer staff, and a brilliant guided of the building itself with Philip, who explained 900 years of with never a dull moment! A good lunch in the Orangery café, and then we returned to the house to the few rooms not included in the tour; lots more information, activities for children, relaxed with books and games in the library, plenty of 'hands on' things to do. The grounds and gardens are extensive, too much to see in one visit; we'll be back! What a fantastic guided tour, Helen our guide was fabulous so knowledgeable & informative you could tell she had such a passion for history! I highly recommend you won’t be disappointed with your of the house. What a hidden gem. We booked on to the ‘Unusual Happenings’ ghost tour. It was our first visiting the abbey and we had such a good time. Our guide was excellent and we found her research and enthusiasm surrounding the building’s and ghost sightings really infectious. We’re already planning a return in the daytime. The dinner was perfectly themed and really delightful, the attention to detail was fantastic. It was a wonderful first impression and it’s to know there is such a gem on our doorstep! And yes, it is very amazing and the food is delicious. The staff is very and helpful. Their customer service is brilliant even it is busy in the lunch hour. And for the Delapré Abbey, it is fantastic. The guided is highly recommended and lots of can be explored and learned. The staff are very too. A memorable evening, fabulous music and venue.
