Went along to see santa with grandkids, who absolutely loved it. More than just seeing santa was an for them to remember, all staff were adding to their magical seeing santa. Highly recommended for coming years. Lovely place to spend a few hours, busy with families and happy too. Take a dip into history, then eat a cake, wander around the grounds, check out artisan businesses, have a drink and then wander off home. Completely free to visit and too! It's a charming old farmhouse with a café and the are a base for Leicester Uni archaeology dept, who are currently excavating a Roman site in the grounds. The house and are free to visit and open most days. They hold regular events; I attended the Roman Fest which had interactive displays by the Uni archaeology students, a Roman legion reenactment, also, Romans Got Talent, a fun and informative Roman themed show for the kids from Laugh Out Loud Theatre Company. There was also a variety of stalls with Roman craft demonstrations and displays and food stalls. A with lots of things to do. To be fair we came during the roman archeology weekend but it was really fun. An interesting little museum of Northamptonshire archaeological finds with a nice cafe. The food was good and all freshly prepared. Some lovely walks around the site as well Went to an alpacas here and the kids loved it. Lovely location and cafe, but we didn't have to explore properly I went for a walk with my dog in the grounds, then on the public footpath off the estate. Lovely views, peaceful, well maintained paths in most places. Good parking. The at Chester House are so beautiful- this place really is a hidden gem. Had a wonderful tea in the farmhouse with a lovely walk around the to walk it all off. This was the second we wanted to visit the Hay Barn Bar and of course it was closed. The first at least they left an apology note, now absolute nothing. No opening times either. Since we were already there we decided to go on a little walk around the field. The grassy path next to the river bank is literally FULL of poop, it appears to be a bizarre mixture of dog and other animal crap. I don't think we will come again. 2 stars only because the Farm House is okay. The Chester House Estate is a treasure - how wonderful that it’s free to visit and so child and dog friendly too! The team that work there are friendly, helpful, hardworking and switched on. They very obligingly let me bring a gender reveal cake for a little gathering at their Farmhouse cafe- restaurant with friends and family, babies and fur babies 👶🐕 The setting is stunning, the teas we had ordered were delicious and beautifully presented 👌 perfect. We also enjoyed the spooky pumpkin patch trail with the kids (aged from 1 to 8 years and fun for all!) the pumpkin carving station, wheel barrows and tractor trail were particularly popular 🎃💗 Thank you all at Chester House 🙏 you’re an outstanding team 🏆 Our family went here for the Easter hunt and Lambing. Was a wonderful day out. The are gorgeous and the Easter egg trail so well delivered - spread out enough not to feel rushed or pushed along yet not to wide so the didn't complain of tired legs or lose interest. The enjoyed the marquee with the Easter activities, the attention to detail was on point. The staff in here were particularly cheery and kind. We tried to book tea but as it was fully booked we took a picnic and had plenty of space, the tea we saw from the window looked delicious! Maybe next 😋 We finished the day, the highlight, with lambing, the lady who showed us to our lambs was really fun, knowledgeable and with the kids, as was the young gentleman who showed us into the lambing area. All in all a fantastic day out and one the will remember I'm sure! Tea at Chester House Estate We recently visited Chester House Estate for tea to celebrate Mother’s Day, and the entire was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive, ensuring that every member of our group felt truly looked after. The food was a real highlight—beautifully presented, freshly made, and full of that comforting homemade touch. Each item was thoughtfully prepared, from the delicate sandwiches to the delicious cakes and scones. The unlimited tea selection allowed us to relax and enjoy the at our own pace, and the takeaway box was a lovely addition, meaning we could savor the treats even after we left. Our party of eight, including three mums, all left feeling happy and well cared for. It was a fantastic way to celebrate a special occasion, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return. If you're looking for a charming, high-quality tea experience, Chester House Estate is a perfect choice. Highly recommended! I love Chester House! Been here many times for events like networking, Halloween or Christmas. The staff are always friendly and helpful (though on busy events a lot of them are very young and they need to check things with senior staff). Events are well organised and facilities are clean. The cafes are well stocked in varieties of produce but they do cost the higher end of the market. The food itself is mouth watering & delicious. There has been long waits for the service inside the main cafe when busy. The for kids is as it’s different to other ones - it’s more of an assault course so the just want to go round and round. Parking is questionable… due to the historic nature of the site they can’t just stick the car anywhere - the large main car is a good walk away. There is however a small car closer but is reserved for disabled customers, though many ignore this and there anyway. The museum and the ARC are wonderful pieces of history and should be visited by all. for children, but the waiting....over an hour... It was cold and windy, not much to do, we were wondering what was the point to book slots? Maybe organising better next time. Wonderful place. Beautiful views to have a little stroll! Little shops about too! And the cafe is something else! The staff are so kind and the food taste amazing! Reasonable prices too! ❤️ Gorgeous, gorgeous place. I have been their guest for two weeks and I miss it very much! We had another Easter event at Chester house, we chose to do the big egg hunt and the girls absolutely loved it. The crafts were value included in the price and added bonus that accompanying adults are free. We will definitely be doing another visit. This is such a lovely place whether you are having a family day out or walking your dogs - or both! We've visited a few times now for family events such as a dinosaur show and the junior archeology which was absolutely fantastic for my budding archaeologist. There is so much history on the site. The whole place is well maintained, toilets immaculate, play area for the and a lovely tearoom. Will be heading again soon for the Easter event which we are looking forward to.
