Perfectly suitable accommodation, simple but has everything you need, including a little cooling fan - much appreciated in July. was provided which included a buffet along with other foods cooked to order. Lovely, friendly staff and great location snuggled up to Kilkenny Castle. Overall a very nice stay; recommended! I really enjoyed my stay at Fanad house. The bedroom was super clean, it had a spacious bathroom with bath and it was very quiet. The was delicous and very fresh. Location wise, it's perfect, a 7 minute walk to the city centre. But most of all the service was second to none. We were very well looked after and were even offered a lift to the train station when we left. Highly recommended! Fantastic weekend stay great location opposite the park and a short walk into the centre of Kilkenny. Very nice room, lovley and friendly team. Looking forward to staying again. My toddler needed a bath, but when we ran the water, it came out dirty and yellow — which was quite alarming. We drained and refilled the tub several times, but the remained the same. After the fourth attempt, we finally informed the staff, and only then were we told that maintenance had recently been done on the pipes. By that time, my child was already tired, crying, and just needed a quick bath. It took nearly an hour before we could get that was somewhat clean. To add to the discomfort, the window couldn't be opened wide enough to let in cool air, so the stayed warm all night. It was not a restful experience. I gave 3 stars because there are definitely positives. The was exceptionally clean — as someone allergic to dust mites, I usually struggle in carpeted spaces, but not here. The pillows were immaculate: soft, fluffy, and very comfortable. Breakfast was another highlight! After reading great reviews, I had high expectations, and it truly didn’t disappoint. The food was generous and filling — we were so full we ended up skipping lunch. This B&B is located right across from Kilkenny Castle Park, which made it very convenient. My daughter absolutely loved spending time at the park. Although the park attracts a lot of tourists, the side where the B&B is situated remains quiet and peaceful Some suggestions: it would be great to have a counter or shelf in the bathroom to place toiletries, and perhaps a ceiling fan or a stronger portable fan, especially if the windows can’t be opened wider for ventilation. We booked Fanad House for 3 nights at the end of January 2025. From the moment we entered we were greeted warmly by Pat the owner.He was helpful, informative and even went out of his way to give us a lift into town. The rooms are warm ,comfortable and well resourced.Towels changed regularly and made up each day. The is the best! Good selection of cereals, fruit etc and a well cooked to follow and good coffee! You won't regret staying here Quiet rooms with comfortable beds. Short walk to city centre from the hotel. Friendly host and excellent breakfast! House is near the city centre, and just across the park. It is clean and quiet, with nice breakfast. The rooms are way too hot; none of us slept well, and with no AC or even windows that could be properly opened (they open for a few cm), its no wonder. The shower, as well as the faucet only produce hot water, so we couldn't even drink a cup of water. When we left in the morning, there was no one at reception to take our keys, so we (as well as others before us) had no choice but to leave the keys there, unattended.
