We arrived early for our boat for the northern lights Crews and so had plenty of time to walk along the Strand and look at the North Sea. It was an excellent experience far too coldgo swimming. Huge sand with a middle warm water, absolutely worth the way here and back from the city. I would love to have some shops over there to buy something for picnicking, but there is some cafe and restaurants over there in last case. But I must say, I enjoyed your peacefulness the other day, IJmuiden Strand, your cool waters in between my toes, and your fluffy soft cool sand underneath my feet. Although I won't be able to experience you this trip as my journey is taking me into Amsterdam today, it made me wonder what adult (no children yet) house warming gifts should I get for my upcoming journey back home late-night this weekend? There are wild animals on dunes like horses and Dutch bulls. There are people surfing on waves. There is a great road for bicycles between dunes. Some people ride horses there as well. There are many places to eat and drink, even a shop close by. It can be accessed by bus 382 from Sloterdijk for less than 5 eur, 40 minutes travel, the last stop is by the beach. Visited in May with our two dogs - The is not open to dogs april to october. When I visited there was plenty of parking (which you pay for - very cheap), the is very clean and although busy, you can easily find a spot for yourself.
