Wonderful place and so much historical, religious and cultural meaning for Romania! The church is beautiful, there are fortified walls around the complex and there is also a bell tower built during Ștefan the Great's reign. Beautiful historic place. One of the oldest orthodox monasteries of Romanian. Very much worth seeing, but can get very crowded so not much of the religious atmosphere is kept. Easy parking and easy access. Lots of nice historic details if you take your time. A wonderful place this monastery to walk in the morning Beautiful monastery. For woman its imported to cover hair , arms and legs. They have grey suits for rent. Well it breaks my heart to rate a Monastery less than 5* (first time I'm doing it) but we really didn't feel welcome here. I can understand construction works but think about the pilgrims as well, make some separation between workers and pilgrims, cleaner access routes etc. Not much to see, I'm really sorry. The monastery has been restored for the most part and sermons are held. It was built by Stefan The Great 500+ years ago. One of the oldest monasteries of Romania.Built in 1406 ,it houses the royal bones of Alexandru cel Bun,romanian prince and his wife Ana. Old icons and the bell given by Stefan the Great himself are just few of the treasures of this monastic overall. Amazing and full of history place !
