We shared the delicious (and huge) pork shank with rice and beans after one or two so tapas style starters. The chocolate mousse is delicious also. Very nice place with delicious food. The waiter was friendly and really helpful! He advised is the right 3 tapas and did not push to sell more than needed. The seasoned with soft boiled egg was amazing! Also the white house wine is good. Next to that, the chocolate mousse desert was wonderfull! It's both a and a bar. As a restaurant, I'd say it's only average. As a bar, it is surely one of the best in Viseu. If you enjoy a good bottle of wine in a balcony, a rather fancy environment and cultural performances, Maria Xica is the place for you. Very nice tapas (petiscos) at a fair price! I did get the egg and (which he really pushed for) and I’m so glad I did. It was amazing. Flavourful, rich, and had a little bit of crunch. I’m not someone who usually enjoys the texture of mushrooms, but this was awesome. Had the snickers mousse for dessert and it was delicious too. Portion sizes are quite generous- for just myself, the and dessert would have been more than enough! Really nice looking bar upstairs, if you’re just looking for drinks. Would go back for the service and alone! I ordered a dish of roast lamb and the meat is 2/3 burned. And I ate more bones than meat. The dish is around 15€. The dish came over 50 minutes in bad quality. I just couldn't believe how unlucky I was. My friend ordered and it was tasteless. And it wasn't full in the restaurant. Great service, good food, but still with some little aspects that can be improved. But nothing major, just small details and some of them maybe influenced by my own personal taste. Like a bit more seasoning on the almond coated prawns, or a bit of dressing (maybe some balsamic glaze) on the goat cheese quesadilla. On the other hand, the steaks and the poached egg with wild were delicious, spot on. One thing tough.. The quinoa salad with salmon, is made with smoked salmon, and not just "regular" salmon. On the menu just says and not smoked salmon. My girlfriend, who doesn't like smoked had ordered it thinking it would be just salmon, grilled or maybe pan fried, anything but smoked. It wasn't a big deal for us, but they should be a bit more accurate on the menu in these situations. Other than that, everything was fine and was a good experience. We would return. This is an excellent restaurant. Very nice food, friendly people and enthousiast crew. If you visit Viseu this place is highly recommended.
