It is not a "tourist attraction", this is just a private house with a private territory - that's it. It’s simply not worth the two-hour drive from Riga. The entrance ticket costs 8 euros, but honestly, there is nothing of real value to see for that price. What you get is a walk through a very mediocre park, and that’s about it. There are so many beautiful castles, palaces, villas, and gardens across the Baltics and Europe that are either free to visit or offer a much better-maintained experience. This one, sadly, does not compare. We couldn’t even enter the itself, and no cafés, restaurants, or other facilities were open. Maintenance work was being done all over the place (in the middle of the season), something that should have been handled during the low season or outside visiting hours. The whole place felt neglected and quite sad. The road to the estate is a terrible gravel road, so plan to hit your car in every pothole and arrive with it completely dusty and dirty. Also a funny thing is the fountain, it only works 15 minutes by a strict schedule (like 14:45–15:00), which is frankly ridiculous considering there’s nothing else to do in the entire territory. Apparently, just sprinkling water is considered a major attraction here... Overall, it felt like we were unwelcome guests rather than visitors. Honestly, if they don’t offer a proper experience, they should keep the private or open it only for special events, rather than charging people just to walk around and look at some grass. Ok, to be fair: the lake, the road to the lake, and the small island are lovely. But still, with much less driving (at least from Riga), you can go to Sodeliškių Manor, Biržai (Astravo dvaras) or Kirkilai, which are far more enjoyable and feel like a proper experience. The giant potato sculpture at the entrance - the only thing you get for free there.. ;) The does have potential and would be suitable for events with the organized program, catering and everything else.. but it needs to be managed more thoughtfully for regular visitors. A fairer model would be free access to the area and paid entry for exhibitions or events inside the itself, as many other estates in the region already do. So first what I want to mention that yes about 4km from the road is gravel. So if you go with good car, it will become dirty. But the administrators who reservated this escursion they said that we will have 5 grape experience, but when we came there was no grape yet only berry and fruit ones.
