We visited Cais da Ribeira due to its recent opening and prime location on Avenida do Mar, and we absolutely loved it! We enjoyed a seaside terrace with stunning views, perfect for photos and savoring an excellent meal or appetizer. We tried the vegetarian wraps, and they were delicious – the best vegetarian meal we’ve had on the island. The was outstanding, and the overall quality of food, service, ambiance, and cleanliness was excellent. Remarkably affordable compared to other nearby places. I’m sitting here writing this and I’ve now waited 22 minutes for the second glass of wine I ordered, which I just flagged down a different waiter to order again since the other waiter never brought it. When I got here I also had to call out to a waiter to simply get a menu as he had gone to other tables around me multiple times without even looking in my direction. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m by myself or I’m female but either way it’s not a experience to be ignored as I sit with an empty glass for so long, thinking they are bringing my order, only to finally do everything I can to try getting their attention to order it again since they are unable to do something as simple as pour and bring a glass of wine. After not feeling the vibe in the restaurant alleys close to the boulevard and cable car in Funchal, we passed by Cais da Ribeira and looked at the menu. Simple light food, shakes and ice cream, of course combined with a beautiful view. The milkshakes were actually milk shakes blended with fresh fruit, really tasty! The chicken wraps were basic, but therefore all the healthier. Not crammed with nasty sauces, but still with more than enough flavour. Okay...we couldn't skip the ice cream rolls and also those were delicious. The waiter saving a seagull confused by the see through windscreens made it even an entertaining visit 😅. Was wir bekamen war eine graue, geschredderte Masse auf Toast (& auf dem Club Sandwich noch Salat & Ei). Im „Chicken“ befanden sich zu 85 % Knorpel. Für uns war es so leider überhaupt nicht genießbar. Die Getränke waren gut. Vielleicht hatten wir auch nur Pech an diesem Tag. Die Aussicht direkt am Meer ist natürlich sehr schön.
