Funchal, Portugal Bar

Good place to taste a wide variety of Poncha. The place is typical and the service is relaxed. The ponchas could be bigger. Very small glasses Relaxed bar, there are cats that live next to the pub which is a win a my eyes! Really not impressed. €3.50 for the smallest glass of ever and was quite weak compared to others we’d had in Madeira. Staff not very helpful and were playing awful music really loud. Wouldn’t recommend Great mix of fruit flavored poncha’ sa must try. Situated in old town Funchal, this place is lively and has a good ambiance. Great place to visit when in Funchal. Visited this quirky bar as we walked around the old town and tried a couple of local drinks. Nice place. Probably the best in Funchal. There really isn't much more to say than that. It's a hole in the wall for sure and it doesn't really catch your eye but this is the one place that all the locals recommended to me for poncha. It's definitely not the ONLY place but every I tried here was fresh and delicious, and it's properly sized for the price (which you can't say for some of the more touristy spots). Good service, the atmosphere was amazing and lively, the drinks are really delicious, and the location is excellent in the old town of Funchal, Locals and tourists flock here, and it gets so busy that everyone spills onto the surrounding streets, a great place to visit in Funchal. This is the 3rd time in here. After first 2 nights I gave 5* rating. (1st photo) Tonight was disappointing. Last two photos show glasses full of ice, little to no alcohol in the Poncha. In addition, waiter asked us to pay for the drinks on the spot, but two days before we were able to have multiple drinks and we paid at the end. Why can't they keep offering the same service everytime? was pretty good, quite pricey compared to other places. Staff were very rude and not welcoming, clearly did not like tourists Great traditional and tangerine poncho drink in an informal setting. I put a 3* for service since we had to ask for peanuts while the locals got theirs without asking Good (in this tourists uneducated opinion) but don't expect a smile with it. Or any help choosing. And be aware that just because there are 15 versions on the menu doesn't mean 15 versions are available. Locals love it, and presumably they love locals. Tourists? Not so much. Preferred Tapas do Anibal. Authentic Poncha, situated in the old part of town. Good spot to sit outside and people watch. The service is very bad for the gentleman who makes the ponchas, has no idea how to treat tourists, had many expectations for the comments of trivago, but it is not really worth it, there are much better places with better attention. DO NOT RECOMMEND THE SERVICE TO THE CUSTOMER IS FUNDAMENTAL IN A SITE THAT IS TOURIST. Touristic spot with a severe anti-tourist attitude. We walked in, hoping to order two cocktails at the bar, and were met with absolute indifference. One bartender was too busy socializing with his mother and a small child who was literally walking on the bar with her shoes – he looked directly at us multiple times but couldn't even manage a simple 'hello.' The other bartender saw us too but also chose to completely ignore us. We tried sitting at a table next to the bar, thinking it might help, but still nothing. We eventually gave up and left. Seriously, skip this place if you want to avoid being ignored and feeling unwelcome!
