Portugal equestrian is a place to go on a holiday! I have just enjoyed a week here, it was a experience. The coaches were fantastic. I had lessons of Miguel and it was great. The I rode were beautifully trained, and always a pleasure to work with. I would recommend Portugal equestrian for anyone looking for a holiday! We spent a week at Portugal Equestrian for their 5 day 10 lesson equestrian training program and had a really memorable and productive time. It became a routine we look forward to - the lovely drive down the waterfront from our hotel at Esposende, walking up to their beautifully landscaped garden, be greeted every morning by the dogs and warm staff, the already being tacked up even if we try to be early (they are very organised!). Miguel our host and instructor was impeccable, looking out for us so well we were well taken care of in every aspect. We benefited from his precise instructions and the choice of which were perfect for us to build confidence. Going from unable to transition into a canter to comfortably asking and maintaining, and on our last day I even managed to do some real tight (for me) walk-canter transitions set up in a triangle. And Antonia managed to get some piaffe going! The kitchen at the Centre serves fabulous food - the soups are my favourite and I have to have them daily. Menus are rotated daily and it's pretty what delicious meals Alex and his mom can whip up. Even the clients of the centre are happy and welcoming, we met really friendly regulars who were eager to share their love and relate tales for horses. This truly felt like a home away from home. One of us did and one flat classes. We were here for 9 lessons in total. This was a test run of just 3 days - we will come back and also recommend Portugal Equestrian to other riders at our yard back in the UK. Isabel was an teacher both for and flat classes - highly recommended. She was attentive, knowledgeable, spoke English well, professional and friendly. She also knew the individual extremely well so could teach us in relationship to that particular horse. We will come back for her classes again. The different were each good in their own way. Figaro was certainly a favourite for jumping. The website shows trail rides galloping along the beach and trotting through vineyards...... sadly these are not available - well only at a walk. The cafe on site is superb with a different offering every day - vegetarians can easily eat here. There is plenty of parking and free wifi on site. Miguel took very good care of us both prior to our arrival and also during our stay he was available on WhatsApp for any questions. He also booked us in for a trail ride on our last day about 90mins drive away at the Nature Reserve. Our on the trail ride were very sure footed, the scenery and views amazing. Henrique took us out for 2 hours along beautiful trails up in the mountains overlooking a lake, through the heather and other wild flowers that were out at this time of the year. Back to Portugal Equestrian - We chose to book an Airbnb close by rather than stay at the hotel, booking 2 and one flat lesson each day. This option suited us best and was very flexible as far as what kind of lesson and how many we took thanks to Miguel. We will certainly return again soon. This equestrian club is an place with first its lovely people who I felt are like friends or family I know for some time. They are friendly, caring and motivating. At the end of my training week I achieved 130% of my goal. I wanted to gain better confidence in but I jumped a course including stretch and oxers and had significant improvement with in flat works. So, I had 3 lessons a day for a week, two were for show in the morning and one for in the afternoon. There are plenty of good which will definitely be suitable for your experience. It's location is in middle of farms enjoying fresh air and quietness away from crowded cities. It has a nice layout of an open arena and two covered ones. We had the chance to try many nice and different Portuguese restaurants around the town. The accommodation was in the town Esposende in front of the beach where you can go for a walk or run along the courniche. I also enjoyed walking around the Centre of the city with its old and authentic Portuguese building. It's a small town and peaceful. Special thanks to Melissa who took care of our daily needs, Anna our show coach, Miguel our calm coach, Bruno and rest of the team. I'm glad that I made it and I would love go again. Book this trip - you will enjoy every minute! This entire blew away my expectations. Miguel, Anna, Astrid and the entire team make you feel so welcome--they kept us laughing while we learned so much. The are highly trained and well cared for, the hotel is lovely, and the town itself is full of beautiful beaches and seaside restaurants. We did a combination of and dressage, plus a bonus intro to working equitation. This really feels like a luxury vacation (an espresso ready for you between rides, a glass of wine with your lunch, help even booking a massage for sore muscles!) and I came home with valuable training that my instructor saw the benefit of right away. Can't wait to come back. I can’t thank Portugal Equestrian enough for the we just had. Not only was the town of Esposende beautiful and welcoming, the food was great, the hotel we stayed at was across from the ocean and boardwalk with friendly and welcoming staff, a beautiful courtyard and pool. Picture perfect! Miguel was our host and our main instructor from Portugal Equestrian. He is patient, encouraging and brings the perfect amount of good humour to keep you relaxed and laughing while learning. For some of us (me) there was much to learn!! In 5 days I advanced from barely being able to carry 3 strides of canter, because I was so stiff and nervous, to confidently cantering circles and full laps around the ring. A truly coach and saints of horses. My sister is a more advanced rider and her coach, Anna, was also a perfect fit, along with the more advanced horses, we both learned so much and had an time riding. We opted for a couple of trail rides near the end of the week to see the local village, the area is so beautiful it was a real treat and the and Boss dog loved the adventure. The facility is warm and welcoming, all of the staff, as well as clientele, were friendly and encouraging. It really felt like a family with pets, kids and other riders all visiting the facility and hanging out. The on-site restaurant was superb, the food was excellent there and everywhere we went. Miguel took us to a few local restaurants for lunches as well, to give us a taste of the local culture, cuisine and history. All were amazing, Esposende did not disappoint! The overall was above and beyond our expectations and we are already planning our next trip! "Show and combo program" The food we were served was delicious the accommodations were excellent. I guess the weather could have been better but that was mother natures fault. However the weather did not stop us because the facilities have beautiful indoor arenas with top notch footing. They were able to accommodate my best friend who loves to ride but has almost zero formal training and he was cantering on his own by the end of the week. I haven’t jumped at home in years and Anna was able to get me to a point where I jumped a small course. Miguel was able to train me to be able to do a lovely canter half pass which I have never done before. The were well trained, safe and happy. Each one taught me something new. I loved everything about my with Portugal Equestrian. They exceeded my expectations! The facilities were 5 star and the staff and instructors were warm and fun. They really excelled at bringing out the best rider I could be in the short time we were there. I would go back and do it all over again 100 times over! I enjoyed my week at Portugal Equestrian. The facilities are and well managed. The are well taken care of and the staff is clearly passionate about the and the business. Miguel was a instructor and was patient with me and answered all my questions. They offer training holidays but also trail rides for leisure riding. I’d recommend coming here if you are looking to advance your skills in or as they are very knowledgeable and helpful in the lessons. Everyone was very kind to me as a semi-retired intermediate rider who just wanted to have fun and enjoy the horses. Really a place to be. This was the best horse I have ever had. The were superb, well trained and ideal for both the show and lessons. I had an unforgettable 2 weeks and am keen to repeat it as soon as I can. I learnt so much and enjoyed every minute. A huge thank you to Miguel and Anna and to all of the staff and participants for making me feel so welcome and going that extra mile to ensure my every need was catered for. I couldn't recommend anyone higher. It was awesome. I just finished a two-week intensive programme for at Portugal Equestrian, and it truly was one of the best experiences of my life! Every staff member was incredibly friendly, warm, and easy to talk to, making me feel like I’d joined a big, joyful family. Each day was filled with laughter, gaining, and joy. The at Portugal Equestrian are exceptionally well-trained, and I loved every horse I worked with. Each had its unique personality and characteristics, bringing a new to every ride. A special thanks to my instructor, Miguel, who was not only professional but also highly dedicated. Every lesson was full of valuable insights, and I felt my skills and confidence improve each day. These two weeks gave me a deeper understanding of riding, along with unforgettable moments of happiness and gratitude. I do not even ride and I thought the training and the riders received from trainers were very educational and will highly benefit their equestrian career . Portugal Equestrian was sooo much fun! I did the standard showjumping lessons, which was ten lessons over the course of five days. Miguel was so sweet and booked a lovely hotel as well as lunches, and Anna was genuinely one of the best trainers I’ve ever worked with. The morning was typically a flat or pole lesson, and the afternoon was more jumping-focused. All of the are absolute gems, and I learned a ton that I am excited to try with my mare at home.
