A nice place to get fresh cow milk. Located in the city, easily reachable by public transport. You will get raw cow milk, products made from milk like fresh greek yoghurt, butter,cheese etc. You also get Country chicken eggs and tasty brownies here. Overall a nice place in the city to get fresh milk. Found this place in a Rotterdam Hidden Gems website, and I am very happy to have gone all the way there to see this one of a kind Farm. It's not open every day, but absolutely worth going there, asking questions and chatting with the workers. Also all the products they sold looked very very good. As I was limited to what I could carry, I only got a yogurt (€1,85) which was very good Really cool experience! Very interesting farming concept with a very friendly owner. We bought some buttermilk and cheese at the farming store, prices are fair and both things taste very good. Cows have a big green field outside where they can stay if they don't want to be inside. I can't understand the complains of other previous ratings here. Peter, the founder of the Floating Farm, is a true innovator and clearly committed to the idea of sustainability and a circular economy. His vision is truly awe-inspiring. I hope this concept continues to spread across the globe. Was interested to see this as a concept given the mixed reviews - some particular alarming ones... all I can gather from the negative reviews is that people are unfamiliar with different farming systems internationally and that this isn't out of place for a housed farming facility. Whilst the Netherlands might be blessed with open pastures (as we are in New Zealand), not all countries have the luxury nor the climate to allow this. The floating farm importantly addresses the issue of space for industrial practices supplying important parts of our food chain whilst utilizing sustainable practices. Cows due to their fermentation process via their rumen, can comfortably accommodate a diet as varied as what's offered providing its well balanced - the condition of the cows shown clearly indicates this is the case. All aspects of this farm are well thought out. The cows are comfortable and content whilst having room to display natural behaviors (and having access to pasture to lay down in etc, although they prefer their barn). Perhaps those commenting "I had a quick look" should first familiarize themselves with international farming practices, learn about animal husbandry and then take a guided tour so that their concerns be addressed without speculation. Recently, a group of young farmers, including myself, visited the Floating Farm in Rotterdam as part of a study trip. Unfortunately, we quickly realized that the operators lacked a fundamental understanding of agriculture, particularly when it comes to cows. Their primary goal seemed to be selling a story, but the narrative didn't hold up. Unfortunately most people visiting will not know this. The ingredients they boast about in the cows' feed are unsuitable for bovine diets. The cows appeared unhealthy and were in dire need of a farrier's visit. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and it was clear that the welfare of the animals was not being adequately addressed. As well as economical sustainability in the long run. It is a model that brings products closer to consumers, showing the reality of farms. Efforts are made every day to be more and more ecological, the planet now demands changes and here are concrete changes. Now vegetables are being produced vertically, free of pesticides, with a minimum consumption of water and with a lot of love and hope for a better world.
