There is all kind of combats: swords, spears, bows and arrow, horseback archery, etc. There is the real site where the Viking houses were, the "big house" and many houses and tents when people go to the Festival to live as Viking for some days. 100% recommended to assist to a Viking Festival in your visit to the Nordic countries!! What a fantastic location... I have seen lots of stuff similar in Scotland but this is a little bit better...First of all the entrance fee...There isn't one !!!!! This is definitely in the year 22 hardly anywhere...I was very surprised. Inside we got a warm welcome from a lady behind the desk who not only spoke German but English aswell ...The Artifacts that are displayed are interesting and quite surprising sometimes as they demonstrate great skills in making and using. My kids 3 girls and my boy loved dressing up as Vikings ....and we had a good laugh and took some funny pics ....you guys can look at them later..... I can recommend this Viking museum for all ages....you can also book events here. Anyway I give it TEN STARS and wish everyone a nice day out with the Family. Really amazing UNESCO heritage site. Viking village/forteress, with earthen ring walls. Archeologists have searched and found shield, burials, etc, huge viking long houses are outline on the ground and one has been built as a recreation. Definitely worth a visit if in the area. Great place, nice museum but very rude personal. We arrived 1 hour before the closing and took our time. When we came to the Viking village at 16:30 a staff in front of us closed the door and just told us it is closed. And if this part is closed at 16:00 why the reception does not say it and advice to start by this? Great place, good value for money, lovely informative "Vikings" available and free tour. Very atmospheric, we were a bit lucky to be around for the viking festival. Still very interesting without festival folk but they definitely made it into an experience. Good for adults and kids alike. Fantastic to be back again after many years. We went to the place with Australian friends visiting Denmark and even if it was winter season we all had a good experience.
