This lovely roundtrip hiking path of 5.7 km length can be made in 1.5 hours and is well worth the roughly 30 minute drive from Karlstad. It leads through mossy forests with the obligatory blueberry pillows; it also passes along the lake shore where smooth rocks beckon the hiker to take a dip in the refreshing water. The path is extremely well marked (an orange sign literally every 10m) and equally well maintained, with boardwalks covering possibly wet stretches. The itinerary is littered with benches and highly informative boards. After undulating over roots and rocks along the lake shore, the path climbs ca. 70m on top of a hill affording a wonderful view across the forest and lake. In spite of the gentle slope, there even are ropes to help hikers climb the "steepest" stretches. The path therefore is great fun also for kids, although you cannot bring strollers and should not choose this path if you struggle with climbing over roots. Ok, I'm not an experienced "trekkie" and I rate this as a a medium difficulty due to the ground being filled with rocks and roots everywhere. It makes it a bit more difficult to walk, at least for me. The first part is quite flat, some smaller elevations but not many. The second part contains a quite steep climb, also quite long. However, the view when you reach the top is worth it and there's a fireplace and a windshelter. From there the trek goes downhill, some areas are steep and there are ropes which can help you from slipping in case you need that. The remaining part is through a lush forest and along lake Vänern where you can take breaks, enjoy the view, drink fresh water from a well or why not take a bath! When you're done I highly recommend the icecream shop "Glassbruket" near the docks! Startade på en liten parkering vid en badplats. Ta med badkläder och avsluta vandringen med ett bad A lovely place to be. Paddling for the littles, swimming and a great nature trail with some interesting extras to make it worth the effort. I would say that this is a moderate trail since there are parts of it that are steep. They have ropes in those areas to help you on your hike. At the beginning of the trail are sporadically in it, there are amazing wooden sculptures. I thought it was a nice hike that took around 2 hours. Check it out at Misfit Wanders! Very nice, around 6km hike with variable terrior. Places where to swim and take a break, or enjoy grill sausages. Little bit history marks on the way as well. Recommended!
