The caves themselves are spectacular, with a scale that's hard to express or capture in a photo. There's a lack of information in English, and the herding experience isn't helpful if you want to listen to the audio on the app. You'll have to have good knees, as there are 683 steps (according to the info - I didn't count). Car parks are free. Very nice experience within a reasonable price. It was a good underground walk in a well constructed walking path. The staff was friendly and open for answering any question. More than 600 steps, if I understood the information properly. Considering the current technology I would just improve the video image quality at the start, although it presented a good sound. Beautiful, unique, well taken care of place. The atmosphere of it is simply outstanding and overwhelming, in all the details of old mother nature :))) The was helpful, funny and makes sure safety is a priority. This is a must go to, in the center of Portugal. The is amazing, a beautiful place to visit and learn about. I'm not giving it 5 stars because of how the tour is planned. It’s just one for a group of over 20 people, of all nationalities. He's a super friendly person and shares good information, however, it was super difficult even for him, with that size of group, to maintain everyone's attention and respect. We could only walk "together", so we had to wait for the thousands of selfies and side conversations before walking and actually seeing the cave. At the end of the tour, he told part of the group how disrespectful they were to him and to everyone who really wanted to hear the information. It's not his fault, the organization should think about having smaller groups and maybe by language. Nice place, good to see, but I won't be going again. The was beautiful and glad we went during the low peak season. Our tour went quicker than others stated. One thing to note: each section of the has their lights on a timer system so, if you lag behind it will turn off (the path lights remain on). So, be cautious with your footing. The tour speaking both English and Portuguese was very detailed in the history of the caves. Tour is approximately 45min. We'll worth seeing, pictures don't do it justice. About a month ago, we decided to make a side trip from Fatima to Grutas de Mira de Aire on a Sunday. Getting there was easy enough via Bolt. The tour starts with an introductory video in Portuguese, with English subtitles available. There is a handy app that can be downloaded and functions as a to the various sights in the cave. It works even without internet access. The complex is magnificent and it was a unique experience being about 100m underground in a vast chamber, surrounded by all sorts of stalactites and stalagmites. There's even an underground river if you have had enough of looking at rocks. Getting back to Fatima, though, was difficult. There was no Uber or Bolt available, and there is no public transport on a Sunday. We were very fortunate to have a staff member, Lara, who was extremely patient and helpful with us, non-Portuguese speaking folk, and she managed to arrange for a taxi to take us back to Fatima. Amazing, worth the price and the journey to get there. Third time there and with no regrets. The staff is very friendly and funny, the says a lot of jokes on they way down the caves, but only in Portuguese language of course. There's cafeteria, restaurant, gift shop and plenty of parking around.
