One of the Best Places To Visits in Românești Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. 9.3.2024 interesting landside from 17th century with a kept defensive moat - park around in good shape, but zero info as multimedia-installation by EU-funds already defunct 30.9.2025 perfect dockmentation about the in Museum of Judet in Satu Mare! Old Castle, the architecture is great. Needs restoration, the building itself can collapse so it is off limits for the public. The Lonyai was built by Sigismund Lonyai in the 17th century in Renaissance style on the ruins of an old fortress. the is precisely as I recalled it in my childhood: precisely the same ruin. While the sister castles in Carei and Ardud were modernized eith EU funds, this one was left to the elements. And it's a pity because it is the reason why the municipality is called as it is: "Mediesu Aurit". Mediesu is a play on words from the Hungarian word "megy" which means sour cherry because there used to be plantations of sour cherry trees and "aurit" specifically of the golden room which was located in the castle. Of course the gold was heavily raided when germans retreatet during the second world war (and ignited the during said retreat) but that is no excuse for having it left a ruin! Especially since it's rich in history and remarcable architecture not to mention the medieval festifals that could be held here! What remained of the in Ardud is much less than what is in Mediesu Aurit, yet the local authorities saw the potential, contracted as much EU funds and remade it. and the result? A touristical attraction filled with people of all ages especially during Medieval fests which in turn bring alot of funds to the local comunities! That's what it could've been, but some benches, a pathway and a digital screen was the peak of what local authorities envisioned for it. It's disgraceful, shameful and only shows the complete disregard and respect for the sacrifice of the previous generations and for its own communities history. I have nothing to recommed of this place. Nothing else than would could be seen from within a passing car. Quite old, access inside is obviously not permitted since this is a ruins site. Lovely to just imagine what sort of lives the people who lived there had. Great location for a 5 walk and break while traveling and even to take wedding or couple photos. Imagine stepping back in time, the air thick with the scent of woodsmoke and history. A majestic looms, its weathered stones whispering tales of bygone eras. Within its walls, echoes of laughter and sorrow paint a vivid tapestry of the past. To wander those ancient halls is to touch the very essence of time. One can only dream of such an awe-inspiring journey. 🏰🏰🏰 Old renaissance splendor. Deserves to be renovated. Used to have nice looks in the past see attached. The is awesome but the village is awful and full of beggars Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
