Well worth it. Fills up later when the cars and buses arrive so worth an early start. We arrived to the around 07.30 and it was empty. Very full by 13.30 when we left. Beautiful views all around. Hike away from the parking lots and enjoy. Stunning! If you come with car, there is parking place not too far from the lake. You can also drive on one side of the lake. There is small coffee shop or just bring your own food/beverage. It’s actually the huge dam. In the other side of the lake, you can find glacier river. It’s the resource of the rivers in Switzerland. The come from melting glaciers. Hidden gem which I strongly recommend! Such calmness and beauty of nature! We went around 10am on during the week and there were barely any other tourists. The circle trail is pet and kid friendly- very nice and easy for walking. If you have time- make sure to have picnic (also bring and some food during hiking as there’s only 1 restaurant and not many options)☺️ Very interesting place! Fine option to go for a walk or hiking along forest and mountain streams. Having decided to visit this pretty cool place, I together with my friend have failed a little bit to consider the fact that the snow hasn’t finally melted:) But any way it was fantastic walk and trek up: profound and breathtaking contrast of warm weather and the snow on the mountainside 🏔 Perfect chance to go back to see the full of to the brim! You can walk around and have some wine in the middle of the lake. The mountains together with the makes this one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen in Switzerland 🇨🇭 Great high altitude with nice view of glacial mountains. Dam itself is an engineering marvel due to its sheer size. The area can be accessed by both hiking trails and motor ways. There is a small restaurant also if you want to dine in. Of all the lakes I visited, it was the least interesting to be appreciated, it contained little water, the landscape is quite artificial looking more like a quarry with than a lake, the vegetation is low with very few trees, it does not have the same grandeur as other dams in Switzerland.
