The is free and very informative and at the end you have a tasting which ends with a ice cream with and it is simply delicious. After you can buy (they don’t push, which is great) the real deal, and believe me it is soooooo much better than the version we buy at grocery stores. Worth it. Acetaia San Donnino is in a beautiful location 15 minutes from Centro Modena. We had a wonderful with Francesca today and enjoyed the quality products. It was very impressive to see a barrel from the 1500’s. We bought several items that we look forward to enjoying at home. It was a very spontaneous trip but what a wonderful experience. Valentina greeted us so warmly and gave us such a great around the acetaia. What I also liked, is that we were not pushed to buy anything, but honestly, after such a good you cannot leave empty handed. Also, it was our first time trying a vanilla ice cream with vinegar! Our hotel recommended this place, and we got a last minute private tour. Our guide (Nico) was so accommodating and welcoming. She even brought out some gelato (on a super hot day) so we could sample it with the buttery and rich balsamic! We learned so much about the process of making and got to enjoy various tastings too. We even got to see a barrel that’s been in use since 1512! 🙀 Definitely a must visit when you plan a trip to Modena!
