Large and ancient right in the centre of Formigine, where you'd least expect it. The whole is authentic and it's amazing to see that it's still standing. From the front it's amazing to photograph, but I wish that the inside had a little more of a "castle feel" rather than just featuring a great green area and trees. I wouldn't travel far just to see the on it's own, but if you're already strolling around in Formigine, pay a visit. Awesome awesome awesome staff! Cool place in a quaint little town. is entry with free guided only (I think they do every 30 minutes). Unexpectedly at the last of the day, they did an English for me and my wife seperate from the main Italian group. The guide, who's name i regrettably forget, was incredible. She took us on an off script to avoid overcrowding with the rest of the other group, was incredibly knowledgeable and you could tell she enjoyed her job. My wife and I both loved the tour, the castle, accommodation and the exceptional knowledge she had. She was able to answer every ignorant question with ease, her English was phenomenal and we are glad we were able to help her out with the torch. This place has some interesting history, even well before the WWII bombing, but also afterwards. There is now a restaurant on premises, but NO experience with what the restaurant has to offer and they are not included in the ratings in this review. The crew is great! Nice place, very beautiful 😍 We arrived on a market day at the castle. It was very nice to see a being used as a town center. Town offices are even located in the castle! There is also a nice green space, and a restaurant on the grounds. Part of the is a true museum with artifacts recovered from the moat and other digs at the site - well worth doing the tour. Great atmosphere. Menu is really and you can sit outside. The staff was vey accommodating for English speaking visitors. I'm so happy we had a chance to visit this 13th century castle.
