It is very placed on magnificent location rounded with dark green forest. The buildings and the space is good maintained. But the prohibitory signs (don't make pictures, don't speak etc) are very boring. The restaurant before the serves tasty food. The Klisura stands below the Todorini Kukli peak at the Balkans, and from a far you may feel it's just a small monastery, but in fact it's the 4th largest in Bulgaria. Historically, it's built in the 13th century, and on numerous times destroyed during the Ottoman yoke, but after the liberation of Bulgaria, its rebuilt at the end of the 19th century, and currently it's freshly renovated as well. (The church renovation just finished) The Klisura is indeed a special monastery, currently a women's monastery, and has a special air within it. Maybe it's because one can feel the blessing of the martyrs who were killed a bit to the north of the (there's a miraculous water fountain at the place) or maybe it's monastic life that's very developed here, but the nature and the spirit just give away a sense of blessing. This is a place to come and feel at peace with yourself, to be welcomed very warmly, and to be able to even order a specially drawn icon for home. A beautiful, peaceful monastery, which is almost entirely wheelchair accessible! The church is perched on a hill in the middle of the yard and there's an electric ramp for wheelchairs. The yard is and perfectly maintained, with lots of flowers and greenery, and a river. There are rooms which can also be rented for a night or two in traditional Bulgarian-renaissance style buildings around the church. There are also wheelchair accessible toilets, a children's playground, a souvenir shop, and a restaurant, which is located right next to the entrance of the monastery. Definitely a must visit place! Very pretty, green, peaceful complex. It has a church and a chapel. Also a museum. There are a couple of restaurants and souvenir stalls just outside. Free entry. Car park right outside. The impressive Klisurski/Vrestictski is located in an incredibly part of Stara Planina mountain, easily accessible by an asphalted and well-marked road. Built in the 13th century, with the fall of Bulgaria under Turkish slavery from 1396, which rule was extremely cruel, the temple was burned, devastated, destroyed, deserted and rebuilt many times. The last re-built took place in 1867. The churches are incredibly beautiful. The has a rich collection of many relics. The courtyard and surrounding meadows are magically energizing and calming - beautiful, clean, tranquill and quiet. You can spend the night(s) in the monastery, paying peanuts price and the rooms are spotless clean, simple but offer everything you need for a pleasant rest and sleep. Nearby there are restaurants with a big menu and good quality food. The shop offers a wide variety of drinks and jams made by the nuns in the using very old authentic recipes. A gorgeous, energizing place, whether visited for a few hours or a few days Unbelievable sacred place with plenty of history and stunning architecture. Highly recommended! Very well kept and well renovated , all paths clean and very serene and quiet setting . No entrance fee , large gift shop with amazing honey, jams and herbs as well as religious icons . On site restaurant with decent Bulgarian cuisine reasonably priced, lots of free parking. Great place with gorgeous atmosphere and very old and interesting history! Must visit!
