Mostly a ruin and not very well kept, but that's what made it interesting to me, with lots of nooks and crannies all open and accessible. And, of course great views. Nice place, for walking in nature. The also good, it is small, but several part has with very view. If you arrive to Sl. Konjice from Sl. Bistrica, you will notice an imposing tower above the town from quite far away. That is the Konjice castle, one of the oldest castles in Slovenia, built in the middle of 12th century. The mostly renovated gothic tower, a part seen from afar, was added in 14th century. The downfall started somewhere in 17th century when it was deserted and then slowly left mostly to ruin. If you are visiting Sl. Konjice, you can take a short walk from town up to the castle. On the other hand you can also drive a short but adventurous road to a small parking place just below the walls. There are no facilities here, except a parking place and small picnic place, but a few events are held on and around the throughout a year. There is a beautiful from the yard walls below the tower, and also from some other walls. If you are rested enough, you can leave your car on the parking place and trek up the hill to the Stolpnik panorama tower on the top of "Konjiška gora" / "Konjice mountain". The tower is at about 1020 meters above the sea level, the itself is at about 500 meters. On the other - southern - side of the mountain there is a famous former monastery - "Žička Kartuzije" / "Žiče Charterhouse" but no setvice at all.... so pitty. Nice and for starting a tour to Skala. Ruins are kept in a shape. Historic Beautifull It's cool city free enter but it's impossible to enter main building.
