It was nice to see a Norwegian in such a beautiful location. Right next to the Viking centre and village this is very much worth a visit and has quite the history of its own. Avaldsnes is worth visiting. A beautiful Norwegian next to the cemetery which is so wonderfully maintained. The landscape around the is amazing, the legend of the rock also, when the rock will be in contact with the wall the ragnarok begin. But I ear, many time the authorities adjust the rock 😁 Nein ich war da und Toiletten und Kirche war zu Besøk i kirken bør kombineres med besøk i vikingsrnteret Norges beste kirke Ble bygd i 1800 tallet it was closed so we couldn't get in. A beautiful, historic old church. Our guide was wonderful, with a great voice! We were told all about the history of the church, and local folklore. Then we were sung a traditional Norwegian folk song, a cappella, in the amazing acoustic of the church. An unforgettable experience. According to Norse sagas, Norway's first was built here by the Viking king Olav Tryggvason and this is said to have been built on the same spot. There is also a Viking museum below the that is recommended to visit. Visiting Haugesund by cruise. The city hop-on hop-off stopped at the Viking Village. Nice historical and nice walk around and to the Viking Village. Beautiful site with an old church, serene trail to the Viking Farm, and the Norwegian History Center. We’ll worth the visit to see this old situated on top of rolling hills overlooking small islands and a view of nearby Haugesund. The Viking Farm is open during the summer and the Norwegian History Center on the same site provides a great overview of Viking and early Norwegian history and mythology. Beautiful that is steeped in history. Also close to the Nordvegen Historiesenter and Viking Village on Bukkøy. All 3 are well worth a visit. An interesting old church. The interior is immaculate, barring the two bullet holes leftover from WW2 and the sewing needle stone has a fascinating story.
