Though small, the park is beautiful. Lots of birds, the sound of the reeds moving in the breeze make this a peaceful place. The over the lake on is special. No entry fees. El Hondo is the best nature reserve in this part of Spain. However, the best parts are off limits to visitors and can only be visited on Saturday open days. The visitor centre, however, is really good regardless of how many people visit. This place is a great area to see some of the region's rarest wildlife, including marbled ducks, which is one of the world's rarest ducks. The visitor centre area was recently chosen as a place to reintroduce crested coots, which has gone very successfully and now this incredibly rare bird breeds on the reserve and is oblivious to humans, making it perfect for photography.
