Beautiful in a stunning setting. I was on a very quick to track down a rat as part of the Mischief of Rats Sculpture Trail. Hopefully, someday, I'll get to return for a proper look and try the café. The looks relatively small when compared with Blenheim, Castle Howard etc but the interior is packed full of interesting exhibits and many rooms are open to the public. Allow about 90 minutes for a visit. Longer if you want an in depth understanding. Unfortunately there are no extensive gardens but there are several trails through the open countryside. A small serves reasonably priced food an ours arrived quickly. All the staffwere and the knowledgeable. There are dressing up clothes for children and a few toys. A country that is well worth supporting with a visit. It won't wow you but you'll enjoy it. Large, opulent, some fine furniture. Lovely grounds that are wanderable. very nice, and staff/volunteer are very and friendly. Yellow paint is to taste. Beautiful beautiful hall , price to get In . The staff inside were and it was a fascinating place , with a few outfits in various rooms for the kids to try and a item search whilst walking around. Lovely Hall . What a wonderful day I have never been through so many rooms on a trip around a stately and all of the were a font of knowledge, we took nearly two hours to get around the and lots of information given in every room. Food is excellent and a decent range of food. is bigger than you think with lots of rooms to explore and volunteers on hand to give depth. Other items to explore including stables and whalebones. Stunning mansion! Our day out even came complete with a lovely well priced meal at the stables and a classic car show. Superb all round. We visited on a wet and windy day to see the Christmas lights and enjoy looking round. We bought our tickets online in advance and found the process easy and straight forward. When we arrived it was very easy to swap the email barcode for our tickets. The two people on the front desk were and personable and gave us a helpful map and directions for where to start. We loved the house! The attendants were present but not pushy, and clearly very knowledgeable. Due to the weather it felt like we had the pretty much to ourselves, which was and made it feel all the more special. The Christmas decorations felt authentic and added to the space rather than drawing the eye away from the room. Verybtastefully done, and in the grey weather, very atmospheric too. After we'd wandered around the room, and tried on the dressing up bits, we headed to the for lunch. The was busy but plenty of tables with fast and service. We both ordered English breakfasts, and they were great. Very good portions, quick service and very tasty with quality ingredients. Afterwards, we had a look at the whale and stable blocks before heading home. We'll definitely return in summer so we can explore the grounds and see everything again with some more light! The is packed with fascinating art and artefacts. The route is self guided and easy to follow. There is information available in all the rooms and very helpful and are also at hand to answer any questions. The landscaped gardens are worth exploring and a map is provided with suggested routes. There is a tea and gift shop. We just sampled the coffee and cakes, both excellent, but the seemed to be very popular, the breakfasts in particular looked very satisfying. Picnic tables are available if you prefer. There is ample parking. Definitely take your own drinks, very overpriced and the coffee isn't hot either it's drinkable straight away. Overall it's a pleasant visit, I didn't do the Hall just the grounds, there isn't much to do or look at but it's ok for a few hours with children. I last came here 6 years ago so it's not somewhere I as an annual trip. A lovely and peaceful day out. The is huge and the very helpful. We enjoyed walking in the parkland, although we found the walks weren't greatly signposted or just non-existant in the place the map said they were. Enjoyed a lovely chicken fajita baguette for lunch, and excellent cake later in the in the cafe. All staff were helpful and friendly. We only went in the grounds but our toddler loved it. She especially loved dressing up and playing in the carriage and finding the animals on the wildlife sculpture trail on the 5k walk. family day out and wasn't to busy which was a bonus. A really nice property for a family-friendly day out. It’s also worth visiting just for the tearoom (no tickets required)! Fine Tudor mansion open to the public and with many artefacts from centuries of British aristocratic luxury. A real tour de force of how the lords of Britain once lived. Family portraits go right back to the time of Elizabeth I and to e is full of fine furniture. Definitely worth a visit. The grounds are pleasant too. There is a pretty good especially in summer where visitors can sit outside in the sun. Fantastic to , very interesting you can explore in your own time with if you want more information a day out, the is provided a good selection of meals plus the most scummy cakes. Went for the Cobwebs and Cream Tea tour today. There was a lovely art exhibition on with prints from local artists. We ended up buying a couple of the prints, which were very reasonably priced. There are quite a few rooms open within the house, so we spent about 90 minutes going around. It’s such a beautiful and the were very and knowledgeable. We then did the guided tour where you get to go inside the parts of the not normally open to the public, including the cellars, the servants quarters and onto the rooftop. The were and it was nice to learn more about the than you would on a normal visit. We upgraded our cream tea to a christmas tea. We had 2 normal ones and 1 gluten free. Everything is homemade and the portions are very generous. We ended up taking half as it was so filling. The gluten free tea was the best I’ve ever had. Everything on the normal tea menu, they gave me a gluten free version of, including quiche and sausage roll. Most places offer very lacklustre gluten free tea options, so this was a pleasant surprise that I could eat all the good stuff. All the food was amazing. I highly recommend booking on the Cobwebs and Cream Tea tour and upgrading to full tea. We ended up spending a whole day here and absolutely loved it. It was excellent value for money. Will definitely come back again. We originally went to the Hall for the victorian christmas market ( it was fantastic and we got some amazing things and met some lovely people) after the market we ate at the stables cafe.. the service and food was amazing. We then purchased tickets for the Hall. I'd never visited it before but it was a fantastic experience. All the staff were amazing, the volunteers were so and gave us so much information. Before leaving we booked to return for a cobwebs tour with an tea. The cobwebs tour did not disappoint, the were amazing, and relatable and funny. Seeing all the parts you wouldn't normally see was an eye opener.. We then went and had tea at the stables and once again the staff and service food was amazing, there was so much I brought some and had it for my tea. We had a short walk around the grounds but didn't venture to far due to the weather. A year pass has been added to my christmas list and I would highly recommend a to any part of Burton Constable Hall.
