We used this pub as a stop over on the way to Whitby. All I can say is the sirloin steak was the best I gave eaten in a long time. Highly recommend. My husband’s Hunters Chicken was also delicious. The are friendly, approachable and obliging which gives a relaxed atmosphere. The chef certainly knows how to cook the best tasting food. Nice little pub. Quiet. We booked a but we're left waiting about 15 minutes at the door before we finally getting told to find a seat although 3 saw us stood waiting and it wasn't busy. Waited a bit for food however it was absolutely lovely. Had chicken wings and the mozzarella bites. My partner had the American chicken burger which he said was really tasty and I had fish and chips which was lovely. Your typical pub grub but of really quality and decent sized portions for price. Didn't order dessert as the qr scanner suddenly wouldn't let us order anymore and unsure why. Great little pub would come back As a Party of 10 for a birthday we and ordered food - were told 1 hr wait , whilst still waiting we had forgot to order a child’s meal . Was told it was too late and the last order for food was 7.45 . - at that we were the only people in the place - that itself sums How it was - Food wasn’t particularly great , just standard bar . Wouldn’t come Back again - that’s 10 People from 3 families all With a very poor experience - it’s no wonder the pub is always dead when you pass I would just like to say what a pleasant evening we had at the Nag's Head, The meal was very nice and the service was excellent. But what made our visit most memorable was the children of one of the staff. They were the most pleasant Kids. We understand that most of the family work at the Nag's Head. We can honestly say they are a very big asset to the business. We will definitely be going back, if only to see the young entrepreneurs. Excellent kids keep up the work 👍 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars We called in at The Nags Head in Routh and had a fantastic meal. I had the steak, which was cooked to perfection, and my wife had the curry—she really enjoyed it. The kids' were great value for money too. We've had the carvery here in the past as well, and it was just as good—definitely 5 stars! The are always really and welcoming. Highly recommend! We used to go years ago here it’s a lovely pub and in a central spot . Unfortunately the past 3 times the food as not been the best . We went 10/10/25 of 10 for my wife’s birthday we were told a 50 minute wait for food that was fine we waited . Bar lovely the young lady always lovely and 🤗. We waited over 1.5 hrs for food 6pm booked food finally at 8pm 😳we had 2 young children with us there corn on the cob that was a side came out freezing 😳like it was just from fridge . The chicken dippers my Grandaughter said she can do better herself she’s 12 .the chips well what can I say and teeth breakers 😢. We all got food in dribs and drabs . Ordered hot dog and asked specifically no mustard and it came with it on 😢. The waiting were great very . This pub could be the best if they made sure there was plenty of kitchen !!! preparing in a timescale and making sure it all came to the around the same . We know it’s hard to have everything ready at once as my wife as worked in the food industry for over 20 odd years . But this is a busy pub and should be fully staffed ready for the footfall . And especially when sending out decent discount vouchers ! Unfortunately this as put me off eating here again 😢. Such a shame as it is a nice pub . I hope you can get some more kitchen and learn them and motion 🤗 Sorry to write this but felt it needed to be said while there 3 couple s walked out as waited over 1 hr for food and got there money back👍 I wish we had 😢 we spent at least £200 between us all ! We were going to order deserts also but thought that’s pointless as would have been waiting until 10pm at night 😢. So wife’s birthday meal not the best 😢 Well to start with, 2 out of the 8 plates of food at the and were salted to taste. The server then came over to tell us this wasn’t our and took them off us and passed them to another without taking it back to the kitchen! We then waited a further 20 mins for our food to arrive- at this point it had been 1 hour and 45 mins since ordering and by this time, we were all just hungry and needing food. The and non of use where impressed. The steaks were cold, grisly and fatty. The pies were undercooked and lacked taste. The hunters chicken was stone with some unmelted grated cheese on top (obviously it would be if the chicken was cold). The lasagna was malted at one end and still at the other. To top it all off, all came with garden peas which looked and tasted like they had just been microwaved for a few hours. We decided to have a dessert too and while this did the job, it was not great. The caramel cookie chocolate brownies were floury, almost like the flour hadn’t been cooked and they were raw. The brownie ice cream Sunday had 1 small bit of brownie, 1 scoop of ice cream and the rest was filled with just squirty cream. The jam sponge puddings didn’t have jam in them and the custard was tasteless. Once finished, we headed to the till to settle the bill- we where not presented with a paper bill until we paid and it was not until after we left the restaurant and headed home, a service charge was automatically applied which was outrageous and quite frankly, cheeky! Overall this was not the best experience and for the price as well, this was not a cheap or great dinning experience either. Key feedback moving forward: - smaller menu meaning fewer dishes to concentrate on in the kitchen meaning better quality and less spent - more staff. This will increase customer face and availability Lovely space, gorgeous food definitely recommend! Food wait was shorter than expected which made my families day, were very helpful and friendly. Definitely coming back Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
