Had a lovely wander around these beautiful gardens. There were lots of flowers and shrubs in bloom and lots to see. Can certainly recommend. Highly recommend, very dog friendly. Dogs on leads around the grounds and off lead large play park with wooden agility equipment. Large car park so motorhome friendly and nice big tea room. 100% recommended. Free for National trust members. Accessible paths around majority of the grounds Kids play area and little bikes to loan Gorgeous walled and forest walk. Bring your dog! They were all over the place (on leads) yet no dog litter, so owners are considerate. Hup Street Food at the stable was yummy. Beautiful gardens, great cafe, the most amazing rhododendron collection and an outdoor playground. Also you can take a free scooter or balance bike for the children A beautiful NT garden, most especially in early/ mid Spring when their famous rhodendrean bushes are in full bloom. Deceptively larger than first appears, it has a beautiful walled garden and surrounds as well as walks in the surrounding garden area. A good cafe with lovely outdoor space is complemented with picnic tables if you want to ' bring your own'. A small but well stocked bookshop is beside the cafe. For dog owners there is a great sage free run area, but be mindful of other dogs and their temperament. Don't forget to get a pooch passport and get it stamped. Rowallane is the HQ of NT in NI. It's a great pity it lacks an NT shop, ( however these can seem very expensive). The lasting impression is of Rowallane staff making this venue as accessible, beautiful and interesting as possible. Downsides? On special days and events parking can be chaotic. As a venue it is not set up for large numbers of visitors and cars, people, children, pets and the general clamour takes away from a venue best served by peace and tranquility. Wonderful walled gardens. Beautiful deep flower beds, lots of different hydrangeas, ferns, roses, lovely edible and herb gardens. Lovely setting in extensive rolling grounds with champion trees around- worth finding the rock/gravel garden and the other planted areas within the larger grounds Lovely beef sausage rolls in the little cafe too. Rowallane were a lovely surprise, we didn't expect it to be so large in area, even though we had googled it in advance. There's old stable blickd, courtyards with life music and food offerings - there's and rolling wooded fields but the walled were an absolute delight, really beautifully matured and kept - really worth a visit! Fabulous place. Took grandchildren for end of summer treat. Everything was so easy to walk to. Plenty to see & do and lots of picnic areas. Nice walks through fields. Walled Garden was a buz with bees and hundreds of butterflies.
