This was an awesome spot that was great to have at the AND at the finish of hiking to Ireland’s tallest peak. At the because it has plenty of parking in the car park. It costs €2 and is a bit treacherous to get to FYI (single lanes for two way traffic). And great at the end because they have bathrooms and beer and food! A much needed cherry on the top of a great day of hiking. Very friendly service too! The beers are €5,50 and there is an array of other menu items. See pictures. What a beautiful place this is. Whether you want to climb Ireland's highest mountain, walk one of the loop trails, or simply spend some time relaxing. We stayed here in a tent and found the stay simply perfect from to finish. There are two kitchens/ lounges equipped with a fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle and cooking facilities. The shop and Tea Room were open from approximately 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Coffee, drinks, snacks, souvenirs, and maps were available here. The toilets, washrooms and showers made a new impression and were well maintained and clean. We had a great time there and would like to take this opportunity to thank the owners. Lovely place to rest and recuperate after hiking Carrauntoohil. They serve teas, coffee and beer, sandwiches and soup. They also sell mountaineering books and souvenirs. There’s even showers and toilets. The pint after completing the Carrauntoohil was one of the greatest pints I've ever enjoyed in my 47 years of life. Highly recommend. Fantastic place to start. Well-stocked cafe, never a thing you need or have forgotten. Great parking for only 2 euros all day. Ice and coffee on point. €2 fee upon exit, coins only! Convenient place to up for Carrountohill. The cafe is a Godsend when you straggle in 6-10 hours after leaving! There is a camping area for those wanting to stay overnight and get going before the crowd. Great place to and the up Carauntoohill. Have a lovely toastie or soup when you've finished. Parking costs 2 euros. Toilets are clean and bright. A super convenient place to and (mostly) decent trails and saw some cute farm animals during the visit. Take note that this parking is a "pay when you leave" for 2 Euro, which we didn't realize til already in the park. luckily, 2 sweet girls had change for a 10, and we helped another couple be able to exit, but we were almost stuck. There is a little tea room shop with specific hours that you might be able to make change with, but they weren't there, so probably just come prepared. there is a toilet that is accessible 24 hours, and they have a snack machine in the hall, too. keep note that you'll see a sign for the Cronins Yard loop and you might be tempted to do the loop, HOWEVER this felt like bad advice for April. the left side of the loop is completely saturated with a lot of flooding, so if you want to keep your feet dry, I suggest sticking to the right on the dirt/rock path, you honestly aren't missing much because you can see everything no matter where you go. We stopped here to Carrauntoohil, Ireland's Highest Point, via Devils ladder and descended via the other peak with switchbacks, and had a lovely day. Come prepared with extra layers, socks, and snacks if you plan to hike, because the weather can change quickly. We were actually anticipating some rain and had a sprinkle at the that turned into a beautiful day, so we got lucky. A very nice camping space in the footsteps of Carrantouhill. Lots of space for tents. Great cafe onsite. Kitchen becomes handy. Carpark can be crowded and the road to the place is very narrow. But we managed :) Great camp site, two kitchen rooms available, small shop and tea room, shower is €1 for 1min. Staff friendly. Car €2 paid when leaving for daily visitors, for camp site users there is another car (free) behind picnic area, closer to camp site (ask in shop). Stayed here in one of the cabins before hiking Carrauntoohil the following day. Really friendly staff with a small shop for supplies. They also made me a packed lunch for the climb which was very much appreciated. Good facilities here too for camping, with showers and a well equipped kitchen. I went to do Carrauntoohil mountain Saturday 23/08/2025 with some friends and we stayed at this place. Everything was amazing, starting for the staff really well disposed to help you with anything that you need, the space to set the tents and also they have glamping option if you don’t like to camp. The facilites are amazing and the resources they provide for you to climb and whatever you might’ve forgotten to bring with you they are able to provide. I’d definitely stay with them again if I’m going back to there. The place is beautiful at the beginning of the trail however we couldnot sleep till to midnight because of the noise. Nobody warned the people. This was our first time with that amount of noise. It was like we were in front of a pub It's the best place to climbing Carrauntoohil. It is ideal to rest, although there are explosions from time to time that I could not figure out what they were, it seems to be something to scare animals or so. It has a well-equipped and large kitchen and the bathrooms are clean, although you have to pay to shower. The attention of the staff was always excellent, they are lovely. I hope to be able to return.
