Well worth a visit. Not cheap. We had an excellent lunch at Roennede Kro. The place has been renovated and restored to its historical state with a lot of love and attention to detail. It has a historical atmosphere while at the same time serving modern versions of traditional Danish food. All in all you feel like traveling back in time while having modern quality. The food is delicious and the staff is great. The atmospheres is relaxing and cosy. I highly recommend this place. Revisited the In, and the everything was as good of not better than the last time I visited. Modern take on the classic open-faced sandwich. The kitchen serves up amazing, fresh and for the most part locally sourced ingredients. In this neck of the woods Rønnede Kro is a stand out. De sætter en ære i at lave god mad, og ikke mindst være der for deres gæster. Menuen skiftes løbende ud hen over året. De har få retter, men til gengæld er de rigtgi gode til at lave de retter. De kender deres vine, og hvidvin bliver naturligvis holdt kold i is spand ved bordet. Vi kommer helt sikkert igen og igen. Beautiful historic inn. retro feel inside and out. Interesting, contemporary menu as you would expect in Denmark and helpful, friendly staff. A lovely lunch stop. We stopped her for lunch on on way to Sweden. Beautiful old building with elegant interior and service. This place is quite expensive. The decor definitely lives up to the price, but that's about it. We arrived five people, 4 adults and a kid. We were immediately offered water while deciding on what to eat - pretty nice. We then ordered smørrebrød and a small burger for the kid. The food arrived for everyone but the kid - "it will arrive soon". After looking longingly at our food for a good ten minutes we're told the chef overlooked the burger and is working on it. The waiter recommends the rest of us start eating. We don't, because we're not savages. What seems like forever passes - it's hard to tell time when you're starving and the individual parts of your food are starting to merge - and finally the burger arrives, we can eat. I had ordered two dishes and had gotten one. This being smørrebrød I honestly expected both at the same time, but since this restaurant is pretending at being fancy, maybe they want to present it as another dish? I suspect they just forgot. At any rate, I have to ask for the rest of my food, wait for them to prepare it and finally eat the rest of my meal. It tasted fine. Not worth the premium it cost though. They comped our drinks as an apology, which was nice, but amounted to water, a small juice and a pepsi. That doesn't entirely negate the sloppy service. And while it of course happens that the chef overlooks something, you should never serve everyone except for a single person at a table (unless that someone didn't order of course), least of all the child. De fleste tjenere var super søde og rare, den ene lidt for smart i en fart, men har fået af vide at han kun er der som ferie/sommer hjælper grundet travlhed 🙈 Remarkably good food in charming old rooms. We had more than friendly staff and food ( they even got me to eat things I would've never eaten because I'm a picky eater, and well... It was ) The prices are on the high side, but it didn't bother us at all seeing of the quality of the service and food we got. Upon arrival they asked us if we wanted still or sparkling water, and refilled constantly.
