We picked out some cakes and went to the cashier, where my husband presented his student card for a discount, as he was paying for both of us. The cashier asked me for my student card, but I didn’t have one with me since my husband had invited me for coffee. Despite this, the cashier loudly stated, in front of the whole café, that the discount couldn’t be applied because I’m not a student. My husband tried to explain that he, as the paying customer, is a student. After some uncomfortable back and forth, she did apply the discount, but by then, the experience had already left us feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable, with other customers watching. We came for a warm and pleasant atmosphere but left feeling disappointed and humiliated. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the kind of experience I expected from such a reputable place.
