Came there with an open mind to see what Latvian sauna traditions are. 6h+ day plan did seem scary. In the end, flew by, was good if not great, and managed to lose my virginity of ice hole swim. Some traditional stuff may not be for everyone but loosen up and enjoy Extremely special place and incredible pirts experience. We had our family of five at the pirts with two incredible pirts masters. They were kind and made us feel very comfortable with the full Latvian experience. Thank you again for a wonderful time. Amazing experience. Can’t wait to come back. Thank you Nauris! This place is really special. Extremely beautiful and peaceful. It was lovely to disconnect from the world for a couple of days. We stayed in the house furthest from the entrance which we think is the best one as we had an uninterrupted view and were also far away from the works going on - we wouldn’t have been happy to be next to the building works. We had a few questions during our stay and when we called the Ziedlejas number online we always got an answer quickly from Madara. The houses are so well designed and are very clean and lovely to spend in. With the walls and ceiling we felt like we were in nature all the time. It would have been helpful to know in advance that despite there not being catering on site, the rooms come equipped with essentials such as a fridge, cutlery, crockery, kettle, coffee and tea, honey made on site, knife, chopping board, glasses, mugs etc. So, if you don’t want to, you don’t have to leave for food during your stay as you can be pretty self sufficient with all of that. There is some signal on the site but not much in the room which we were fine with as we wanted to disconnect. Our woollen Pirts was a great and the Pirts master was very friendly and made us feel comfortable. It was our first Pirts (seems like the woollen Pirts is a good place to start if it’s your first as the and smoke ones get a bit hotter and are more traditional) and he talked us through the process and made adjustments e.g. to the temperature so that we were comfortable. It was very well thought through and a really nice experience. We were in there for about 3 hours but the went by extremely quickly. Although it is expensive relative to other stays and Pirts options in Latvia, the building work wasn’t ideal, and the booking and check in process wasn’t completely clear - overall, we had a great stay at Ziedlejas and would love to go back. Magical place. We loved our with a traditional Latvian sauna ritual. Everything is arty, creative and beautiful. We had to stay in the little house as we were traveling from far with a baby. It’s beautiful space, but there are some minuses. No blackout curtains, which is ok in a long winter night but can be challenging in the summer, so I would advise to take sleeping face mask. As we were traveling with baby and the pram, it was very difficult in the morning to get out from the house after snowfall, no one came to clean path to the house or help us with bags (on arrival or departure). Which takes me to another minus , we couldn’t get in touch with anyone as there is no connection in the houses. Which was quite a big minus for me as I have little baby and I need to be connected. No wi-fi is a big problem for us. My husband couldn’t get in touch with us for 7+ hours as we had our ritual. He was panicking and called our family who also couldn’t find us, so that was very stressful. As well as our door didn’t lock from the outside no matter how strong you push it , we couldn’t close it. Also you need to bring your food as there is no restaurant etc. I will definitely come back for sauna treatments and I hope connection issue can be fixed. There is an amazing energy in this valley of Ziedlejas. it was my second here and this it was as nice as the first. i did also a sauna ritual with Arvils and I highly recommend him. Madara and Andris have infused their love and vision into this nature wellness resort. We had a confusion about our booking slot before our arrival; which they resolved above and beyond our expectations; with thoughtfulness and care. We had booked the Woolen Pritz and the itself felt like being deeply cleansed, one of healing and revival. We didn't have the to explore the nearby forests too much but the setting and accommodations were immaculate and unforgettable. Just want to share our excellent first with Latvian pirts sauna. It was amazing and we really felt at ease because of the very professional and dedicated lady that was guiding us! Such a lovely place ! We will be back!
