Volsdalen Camping

Ålesund, Norway RV park

One of the Best Places To Visits in Hovland Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. Well located to visit the city Good places No view on the fjord (that was a bit of a disappointment) Suggestion: maybe take some action to trim the green By cycle you are within 10 minutes in the city center Well worth visiting Shower and toilet facilities are good / very clean Good service by staff All in all good camping to combine with city visit Lucky to get a good spot for the camper van with a grass platform overlooking the water in front of us. Toilets and showers clean and functional. Kitchen well equipped with crockery, cutlery, cleaning materials etc. Far better than we had expected. Other plots on the site were more cramped and without a view. You just have to get there early. The guy at the entrance offered such a poor service. He was lay back with his air pods and looking at his cellphone. No attention to helping us identify the right camping spot. The showers were terribly dirty and no refund was allowed for the unused shower token. Really nice experience. Plenty of showers, equipped kitchen with basic necessities. Nearby amazing park for walk and scenic views. We arrived to a very full camp site. We were told to see if we could set up a tent before paying. This is a small camp, only one small strip for tents. We managed to get our tent up. I can agree with other comments about the showers. They seem to always be cold and not very clean. It's sad that this is the only option for camping in Ålesund. Good thing is that the location is near downtown, just few minutes drive. Also, there's a beach and incredible view nearby. Overall a good place but the owner didn’t leave the best impression. When we left after two nights he was having a big argument with a guest in front of everyone, including their children, and he said some pretty nasty stuff. I obviously don’t know the whole story, but yelling and scolding another campist in front of everyone did not seem professional to me. The place itself was ok, pretty standard. A pretty cramped tent area where we slept but ok. The beach was 50 meters away and very good! The bushes could need a trim. And very close to the city, 5 minutes by car. We had a terrible experience at this campsite. Our tent broke upon arrival so we urgently needed accommodation. Although several cabins were visibly empty, the reception staff insisted that none were available. Instead, they told us the “cheapest option” was a room for NOK 1150 with a private bathroom. We asked again about the cabins but were flatly refused. Feeling we had no other choice, we accepted. The reality was appalling: bed linen not included, the room reeked of cigarette smoke, and everything felt dirty and neglected. It was absolutely not worth the money, and we even ended up sleeping on our own air mattress because of the conditions. What made it worse: later we checked online and saw that cabins were indeed available, but by then it was too late. This was not just disappointing – it felt dishonest and exploitative. Looking at other reviews afterwards confirmed our feeling that this is a pattern. They clearly took advantage of our situation knowing we had no alternative. Strongly advise others to avoid this place. Do not trust what they tell you at reception –our lesson learned; always check availability online yourself.
