Desolate. Not worth a special visit. OK if you are desperately in need for fuel or to stretch the legs but there are other better petrol/rest stops nearby or just for photo opportunities. It's not everyday you find a gigantic abandoned asian theme castle/fortress in Sweden. Pity that this place is developed poorly. Dragon Gate: Sweden's Unexpected Taste of Asia! 🐉🏯🇸🇪 Dragon Gate in Älvkarleby is truly a unique and fascinating destination, an unexpected slice of Asian culture right in the heart of Sweden! It's a grand and ambitious complex that stands out, offering a blend of cultural experiences, a museum, and a restaurant, all within an impressive Chinese-inspired architectural setting. While it might be a bit off the beaten path, it's a place that sparks curiosity and offers a different kind of experience. Visitors often find themselves intrigued by the scale and ambition of the project, and it's a memorable stop for those looking for something out of the ordinary. It's a testament to cultural exchange and a place that leaves a lasting impression. 4 stars for its unique vision and unexpected charm! Unexpected cultural stop. Nice cafe with large selection of Chinese goods to buy, at good prices. Nice atmosphere and good toilet facilities. One can also visit the Chinese museum free of charge. Very interesting and unusual for Sweden place to look at. Just passed by in the early hours of the day, so it hasn’t opened it. According to some sources the Chinese billionaire choose this place to build it because the map of Sweden reminds a dragon and this spot is located somewhat in the belly - which is believed to attract luck according to feng-shui. As far as I know there’s a museum with Terracotta Army replicas which could be well worth exploring and some restaurant. The hotel is yet to be open. Vacker från utsidan. Förövrigt dött. From the highway, the Dragon Gate looks very interesting! Up close, however, parts of it already appear to be in disrepair and it isn't open to the public. Still, it's a useful rest stop for stretching your legs, taking a break, and getting gas. Its unique design definitely stands out from other buildings in Sweden. Note: there is no public restroom. It's an interesting place with much potential, but sadly the unfinished state and disrepair of many places makes it feel like it has been mostly abandoned. Hopefully someone can refurbish it in the future and turn it into a nice attraction. Nice place to see bit of China in Sweden. Terra-cotta warriors replica is nice and lot of information about China and history on display. Nice cafe to get some snacks as well. Very interesting and excited place in the middle of nowhere in the forest next to motorway E4 . There is a small cafe shop with a gift shop, restaurant and historic chinese museum with the world's longest of 150 meters wooden wall reliefs presenting an overview of china's nature, architecture and culture. in the museum there is an impressive copy of the famous Terracotta Army. It's very interesting place and definitely worth visiting. I liked by the fact that I could see a piece of China in the middle of Sweden👍 Road trip in Sweden and stopped at this place. Surprised to find a weird place like this. It is a bit decayed but still fun to visit and free. Nice milkshake Very stange but somewhat magical place in the middle of nowhere, Sweden. If you happen to take this particular highway, this is a must-stop. Small piece of China in Europe. It's in a bit of disarray, but it's free and definitely worth a visit. Glass och Pizza Bästa glassen!
