Very emotional and amazing. Parco davvero grande, ci sono un sacco di percorsi da fare e una notevole quantità di trincee da visitare. Servono svariate ore per riuscire a visitare tutti i punti di interesse storico ma ne vale assolutamente la pena. Lovely walk for families. impressive & great hiking area highly recommended Between 1615 and 1617 , during the war of Gradisca between Venice and Austria (also known as the Uscocchi ), the territory was sacked and set on fire, although the walled city was saved thanks to the artillery of the fortress. In 1797 , the French Napoleonic troops conquered the Rocca and, with the treaty of Campoformido , the Monfalcone area as well as a large part of the Republic of Venice was ceded to Austria ; nevertheless, the French troops remained in Monfalcone until January 1798 . It deserves higher stars but I found the maps and marker posts somewhat unhelpful. We discovered a trench along the way which gave one a flavour of the horrors of this period in history. But the distances to each point of interest were further than we had time to spare in our itinerary. It's a lovely forest walk come what may with many hidden treasures but requires more time to do it justice. Kids loved It, very interesting for adults as well....highly recommend It isn't a museum, this area was part of the front, you can visit the real trenches, caves that were preserved after the war. Great opportunity for a long walk, hiking shoes are recommended since the ground is rocky and the site is quite big. Ale zákopy so rozsiahle, dokola celého kopca a stojí to za to. Abbiamo trascorso 3 orette su questi sentieri, lasciandoci guidare da delle segnaletiche non sempre chiare. Difficile anche individuare i punti di accesso al sentiero (che non sono segnalati e per giunta i parcheggi indicati non esistono ed occorre parcheggiare un po dove capita). Cionostante è stata un'esperienza toccante. Trincea joffre lunghissima e ottimamente conservata (non proprio lungo tutto il percorso si trova lo stesso livello di conservazione, ma comunque impressionante); peccato che le grotte lungo il percorso siano state chiuse e non siano più visitabili.
