This is absolutely incredible with breathtaking views. I went here as part of 7lakes+monastery combo tour. From the top of chair lift, it takes approx 2 hours to reach seventh lake, and then approx 1 hour to get down to chair lift. I highly recommend going here on sunny days Great to gorgeous and alpine environment. However when I was there in late October the was closed and I was not able to find a jeep like others have suggested and took a along the chairlift that took like 1.5 hours round trip. I would recommend prioritizing the route on the right that goes up the mountain for some very nice views of the if you don't have too much time. The trails were quite empty late afternoon around sunset hours. Also parking was free when I was there. I've been returning to this magical place for 8 years now and definitely can't get enough of it. I recommend you to take the path through the Kidney lake on your way up and then take the other way down through the other for the best experience :)) July and August are the best months to visit. Keep in mind that weather can be pretty unpredictable at this high altitude and also, the is open and not a cabin. It can gan pretty windy and cold during the ride so always have enough layers. Absolutely gorgeous! It is about a 3-4 hour from the top of the to the highest lake and back. But if you are able to about 8km with 300 meters elevation this is one of the prettiest hikes to do in my opinion! We were there on 12 Mar. the was not open due to windy condition even the Google said it’s open. So you should call ahead to check each day. We tried to by foot with normal shoe. It’s fun but didn’t go much further so we walk back. Still beautiful even only a couple hundred meters walk. We were there 2 days ago. The was not offered due to maintenance. So make sure to check the website before. There was chargeable jeep provided by locals to bring visitors to the 3/4 of lift. Prepare for the super bumpy ride for about 15-20 minutes. And after that, you still need to climb the stony trail for another 20-30 minutes to reach the upper point. From there, another 30 minutes to see the first lake. We arrived too late (13h) to see the whole 7 lakes. With normal shoes, the hiking was indeed not easy. So make sure to wear the right hiking shoes. Prepare enough water and food. Wear rights clothes. Prepare to experience the natural WC. In summary, the hiking trails are somewhat difficult (we have 2 daughters, 10&13). Given that we came from Sofia and paid that much effort, the were not that stunning after too much expectation. Visited in the beginning of December and the entire place is covered with at least a knee-deep's worth of snow (up to the hips at parts)! Amazing views from the and throughout the walk. The is especially challenging in winter because of the deep snow and the trails not being obvious. Highly recommended to wear snow shoes if there is snow to make your walk a bit easier. If you go in winter, it is likely that the would be frozen and covered in snow, making them not very visible. However, still worth the walk in this beautiful winter wonderland! If you go in winter, the lifts would also not be busy (just myself on the on the way down). What a beautiful place it is! Both trails aren't easy so get ready for physical exercise if you want to visit The Seven Rila - the view is definitely worth it; there are not only and mountains but also many streams and a waterfall! Choose good and warm weather as the viewpoints are located high. I recommend going both routes to see the both from far away and close.
