Beautiful views and you can drive up to the top and park if you’ve got dodgy knees. Beautiful natural spot to visit with great views to the ocean, the Miño river and Portugal. Lovely walks and picnic areas. One of my favourite places in Galicia 💖💖💖 As close to Heaven as as you can be Excelente place for walking and relax. Beautiful landscape Beautiful views and well marked paths. We loved the picnic benches. Fantastic place stayed in Aloia Nature cabins so peaceful We had a great afternoon at Monte Aloia national park. We started the day at the visitor centre where Fernando, a very friendly and knowledgeable park employee with brilliant spoken English told us the history of the park and gave us an insight into the flora and wildlife. There were wild gardens to first explore and after that we went to the monastery area at the top of the mountain where several relatively short trails took you in different directions with different landmarks to find. The day we visited the weather wasn't good but that only added to the beauty with a lovely mist that descend through the trees and gave they area a very mystical feel. Being Irish we're use to this type of climate when out walking, so we were at home😁 And to finish there is also a restaurant where you can get hot traditional food, and also coffees and beers if you like. If you can make the time I'd also recommend visiting the archeological site of Castro Alto Dos Cubos. This is near the bottom of the mountain and is signposted where to park (say hi to the donkey and horse in the farm yard as you go bye). From there it's a nice 2km trek through a forest track where you come upon the site with a spectacular panoramic view of the nearby town and countryside. This visit to Monte Aloia which was only a 30 minute drive from Vigo was one of the many highlight of our holiday to Vigo and a lovely memory to have made. Beautiful woodland walks and scenery. Safe for children. A lovely day out.
