We walked around the village with their cutest ever dog… Leon - the same dog from three years ago when I visited Gari for the first time. The motel is surrounded by beautiful nature, and there's also a with a good-looking menu. We ordered sharska with kajmak (cheese topping) and a pork chop. We asked the waiter if a garnish came with the dish, and he confirmed that it included boiled potatoes. However, when our plates arrived, there were only three small pieces of potato, one slice of cucumber, and one slice of carrot. Seeing how small the portions were, we ordered fries, but they arrived after we had finished our lunch. The meat was dry and tough, making it hard to chew. It's such a pity because the and its surroundings are so lovely, but the food quality doesn't match. People come from all over Macedonia, so they should really consider improving the food, garnishes, and service. By the way, the waitstaff seemed to be the owner and two young boys, probably no older than 16 or 17. The bungalows are one of the dirtiest places I have ever seen! There was even hair everywhere on the floor from the previos visitors, not to mention the toilet and the bedsheets! Would never recommend! We stayed one night in the new accomodations by the river. They're two levels, a queen bed downstairs and two singles upstairs. You climb with a ladder, loft style. The cabins are modern, clean, each with a bathroom. No toiletries or toilet paper included, I hope they start including it in the future. The place is overall pleasant, the staff is welcoming and the food is good. I would have liked to see larger sides when served with the meat/main dish but other than that it was a good meal. There is a playground to entertain the kids and a trail that goes around the property with a waterfall as a nice surprise. We saw fireflies in the evening. Great stay! The menu is simple, but don't get fooled by that. The food is full of flavors, and there were no compromises made with the engredients. Each part of the dishes tasted rich and was nailed down. The chefs really know what they are doing. But the food there is just part of the experience. The kind and welcoming owners have put a lot of effort and vision in the establishment so you can feel that is was built with love. The has great views, and the river and the animals contribute to the whole sensory experience. Can't wait to go back there again. Consider spending a night or two there if you have the time, as the place offers accommodation. A beautiful mountain village Gari, an amazing nature and astonishing views. The river flows just right up to the villa. The place is beautifully decorated and the ambiance is very pleasant. The offers tasteful dishes but little disappointed because I expected bigger variety of homemade and traditional food since It’s ethno restaurant. Decent prices for obscenely small portions. The staff should be more hospitable. The rooms are basic but big and comfortable. The cleanliness is not on the highest level. Poor breakfast, only a variety of eggs. All the negative reviews I have listed are just my honest opinion and only to encourage improvement and will not detract from my overall impression. I would still recommend this place because it is worth a visit. One of the best Etno-Restaurants in Macedonia. Food is great, Cheese is best-ever, Rakija too.. location is one of strongest points, right next to the river in the mountains village Gari… excellent experience, worth visiting. And the prices are very affordable. The nature is perfect. Too bad the impression is completly ruined by terrible food and service. The first disappointment is that nothing is homemade which is the reason why you travel so many kilometars to reach a village ("kajmak" and rakiya for example were products of average quality that can be bought at any supermarket). The biggest dissapointment was the fact that after waiting for one hour we were served with half grilled half raw fish. We left the hungry.
