Bad renovations and no place to buy candles early in the mornings during week days Very nice, old orthodox church Considerată a fi una dintre cele mai vechi vetre monahale din Ţara Românească, Mănăstirea Cotmeana datată din anul 1292, şi se află în apropierea localității cu acelaşi nume. Se spune că RADU I, domnitor al Ţării Româneşti, ridică o biserica de lemn care va arde. Ulterior, Mircea cel Bătrân construieşte în acest loc o biserica de zid, cu hramul Buna Vestire. Biserica restaurată în 1711, de către Constantin Brâncoveanu, fiind reparată, restaurată şi în secolele al XIX-lea şi al XX-lea. Ansamblul feudal de la Cotmeana alcătuit din biserică, clopotniţă şi ziduri de incintă construite pentru apărare. Aici există cel mai vechi clopot din Ţara Românească dăruit mănăstirii de Jupan Dragomir, în anul 1385. În biserică - monument istoric, se păstrează portretele lui Mircea cel Bătrân şi Petru Cercel. Mănăstirea Cotmeana considerată un adevărat monument istoric medieval, reprezentativ architectural pentru spaţiul muntenesc din secolul al XIV-lea. Faţadele sunt construite din cărămidă, decoraţiunile mânăstirii sunt realizate în stilul bizantino-balcanic specific secolului al XIII lea-al XIVlea. Aici s-au descoperit mai multe morminte de tip athonit şi un tezaur de monede de aur şi formaţiuni ornamentale din teracotă expuse în prezent la Muzeul Judeţean Argeş. There was a guy that offered info about it and acted as a guide. Very nice. If you want to find the real peace and silence you have to go there...it is sublime! Un loc excelent ptr linistea sufletului si rugaciune spre Dumnezeu Am pășit în acest lăcaș cu credință, liniște, dar am avut impresia că totul părăsit, o curte neingrijita, picturile deteriorate, doar câteva lumânări aprinse semn ca avusese loc o slujba.....doar cerșetorii te băgau în seama. Dezamăgire fata de aceasta mănăstire atât de importantă. Cine acum la conducere nu-și dă interesul să fac nimica foarte jicnitur de partea conduceri care acum Sa va fie rușine, preoți fără Dumnezeu! Ati gasit un pui de urs de 1 an, l-ati ținut 20 de ani închis intr-o cușcă ca să va atrageți privitori, nu ati fost de acord cu eliberarea lui în sanctuarul de ursi din Zărnești pana nu au intervenit autoritățile. Vă mai faceți cruce , sa va dea Domnul după sufletele voastre, ceea ce meritați!
