Our guide, Roberto, was incredible—funny, knowledgeable, and full of local insight. He made every stop engaging and memorable. The food was absolutely five-star—authentic Sicilian flavors, fresh ingredients, and generous tastings at every stop. The lasted about 2.5 to 3 hours, which was the perfect amount of to explore, eat, and enjoy without feeling rushed. Highly recommend Discover Messina and especially Roberto if you want a mix of history, culture, and amazing food. A must-do in Sicily! Sara was fabulous, she guided us through Taormina and Castelmoa on the Discover Messina expertly. She was super well informed, her English was very easy to understand, and we had over two hours of free in Taormina for lunch and shopping. I highly recommend this and company. And we were back to our ship in plenty of time. Had an amazing experience with Tania. She accommodated our large family last minute to keep our family together after being split up bc we booked separately. As we were touring she recognized my family surname and gave us a bit of information about our family history. I would love to go back to Sicily and book another experience with this company! Tania was well spoken. The was organized and the walking historical was broken up by enough food stops to keep you energized and full. Hands down after a 24 day trip across the Mediterranean Sicily is not only beautiful but I can say the food was too. Our family had just a few hours in Messina but we all decided we will be back for more after this experience! Out of all our Mediterranean cruise ports, Messina, Sicily, was our hands-down favourite. We booked the Taormina Land and Sea through Discover Messina Sicily, and it delivered on every level — culture, views, food, friendly and staff, and unforgettable Sicilian beauty and warmth. Our for the entire day was named Alessandra, and she was intelligent, charming, well spoken and incredibly friendly. We drove from the port of Messina to Taormina, a stunning hilltop town with postcard views over the Ionian Sea and a backdrop of Mount Etna. Our first stop was a local breakfast cafe called Bar Pizzeria where we were treated to authentic granitas with an Italian bun. Goodness, it was so delicious. I asked the staff what they recommended for flavours and they said fragola (strawberry) and pistachio. Wow, so yummy and unforgettable. Sweet and savoury, it was the best, richest and most flavourful granita I had in all of Italy. We wandered the cobblestone streets, browsed small boutiques, and soaked in the atmosphere at Piazza IX Aprile. We also speed walked all the way over to the Giardini della Villa Comunale — the landscaped public gardens with shady pathways, exotic plants, and panoramic viewpoints. Apparently Arancini was one of the things to eat here so we went to a place called Stritfud to try their Diavolo and Ravi versions. this was definitely the spot! Crunchy, savoury, melt in your mouth delicious So outstanding. From there, we ventured to the coast for an unforgettable boat of along the coastline We docked off of a location close to the Temple Olimpico Naxos. We went past many sites including the beaches by Spiaggia San Giovanni Giardini Naxos, the mini island of Isola Bella, got up and close to the Grotta Azzurra, and then dipped into the Ionian Sea. Geneva says we’re water babies so we absolutely loved our in the water and the seas. There were so many pictures of hotels and beaches and places where we saw people vacation. Such a beautiful spot popular but not over crowded. Our on the boat was Vincenzo, and he was incredibly knowledgable about the history of the area that was well travelled himself. He also treated us to snacks, Prosecco, and pop. As a of 12, we were lucky enough to actually have her own boat, and the other half of our were split into a different boat. This ended up being one of those absolutely perfect days. The weather was beautiful. The water was incredibly warm that was super hospitable. I can’t speak highly enough of discovering Sicily with this and what an amazing day we had. We did the Godfather with Katjia. The beauty of Savoca and Tamorina is truly stunning. If you are a fan of the movie and Sicilian history this is a must. The shopping and restaurants available are endless. Katia was incredibly and kind. She really took care of the group. We had plenty of free time. We had the best experience on our Taormina boat to Isola bella Sicily. Our Pepe was very and shared so much more than just history and geography! He had snacks and champagne for us on the boat and at one of the restaurants in Taormina. He gave us many recommendations for places to visit when we stopped in town. Would definitely choose this again with Pepe! Castelmola and Taromina. Don't miss this small tour! If I could, i would give it 6-stars. Our Sara is extremely and shared interesting facts along the way along with the history of Castelmola and Taromina. We left in a spacious 7 passenger van and felt safe driving along the cliffs. Sara provided almond cookies, water and a map of the area. She took pictures for you, pointed out local plants, recommended stores, restaurants, and other sites depending on your interests. She is a local gem! Headsets are provided. They are in contact with port authorities and aware of cruise ship departures, so don't worry. Our Sara was friendly and very of the city. We had a private with Sarah to Mt Etna and Taormina. Sarah was great! She was very and happy to share her knowledge of Sicily, Mt Etna, relevant history etc. She arrived early to the port, so we were able to get ahead of the other groups to Mt Etna. The private was because we had flexibility. Our driver, Michaelangelo was a safe driver too and very nice. I would highly recommend them, and ask for Sarah too! I had the best experience with Katia & Giacomo. Katia has a wealth of information to share and she kept the interesting and fun. She also genuinely cares about her guests. When several of us were leery of climbing a steep hill in Savoca she immediately said she’d call a taxi. I expected a regular car but the guy who showed up (Giancarlo) had this really cool motorized buggy that drove us up the hill and back. The experience alone was worth every penny! But Katia could’ve easily told us to suck it up or stay downhill. She didn’t hesitate to help us out. She also makes sure that everyone is with the and not left behind. We learned so much about Messina, Savoca and Taormina. I wasn’t sure what to expect from Messina but now I can’t wait to come back! And I can’t forget about our driver, Giacomo. Some of the roads aren’t for the weak and I’m glad he was behind the wheel. I felt very safe. This was one of the highlights of my trip and I highly recommend Katia and Discover Messina Sicily Tours when you visit Messina. My son and I took this and Chiara was our guide. She was GREAT! She was very engaged with the and the people not in our group. She asked a family to take a pic of us and then she returned the favor. I thought that was very nice of her. She went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed each and every stop along the way. She took us to the fountain, a puppet museum, to see the noon show, the church and to get food. She even put her own money in the box at the church so we could see the church light up. The noon show was AMAZING and the church was beautiful. She made it feel like a very personal like a friend that wanted you to see the best things in the area. Thank you, Chiara! We booked this independently as we were visiting Sicily on the Queen Victoria. The was value for money. We were met straight off the ship by Katia who directed us to a Mercedes mini van where Peppe the driver offered us fresh water while we waited for some other guests. There were only 6 of us in total and the felt like a private tour. Katia was a very funny and informative who seemed to know everyone in the village of Savoca where The Godfather was filmed. She managed to get us seats in the famous Bar Vitelli for a drink and photo opportunity. Peppe was an excellent driver and we always seemed to be ahead of the big bus excursions which meant we avoided all the crowds. The 2nd part of the was Taormina and we were dropped right by the main street and had plenty of for shopping, sightseeing and a tasty lunch before being transported back to the port in the air conditioned luxury Mercedes. Katia and Peppe were excellent guides. Our did an excellent job on our today. She was very knowledgeable, helpful and explained all the details at each stop on our tour. She also gave us very detailed advice about the items available for our lunch. I thank her for a wonderful time. Although we were nervous about booking with a company outside the cruise line, they surpassed our expectations. Check-in was well organized, and they were easy to find right off the cruise dock. They emailed before the to learn our interests and pair us with the perfect guide. That choice paid off, because Mariarita was an absolute gem. Even on a large bus, she made us feel like we were on a small, private tour. She was highly about the area and presented the information in an engaging, way. We did the Godfather with Katia while on our cruise, it was wonderful from the we met her off the boat until being dropped back off at the boat! She also stayed with us throughout each stop for a good amount of before setting us free to explore. My mom and I enjoyed this as we like to learn more about the stops that we are in. We also appreciated the recommendations on where to eat and got some Italian cuisine at Mama Rosa’s in Taormina. Overall the best experience we have had so far while on our Mediterranean cruise. Thanks so much Sara!!! My friends and I had an amazing experience seeing a part of Sicily with the best Peppe! We walked through Taormina, went to a couple of scenic view areas and did a of the winery. The wine tasting was incredible, as was the food!
