The roses smelled amazing... The water feature was relaxing. The garden was full of bees and insects which was great to see. I enjoyed a tasty brunch at the ONEKITCHEN too. Incredible to have watched this garden grow, from nearly nothing. They’ve done an amazing job bringing this forgotten, walled garden back to life. The coffee and sausage rolls however, are excellent at the Produce Shop. They would benefit from a separate cafe counter to the shop, as there’s always large queues and I’m sure that must put people off from buying plants and produce. Stanmer is the most pretty little village and the surrounding woods are a joy to explore. Stanmer House is the most beautiful building, that has yet to live up to its full potential. The one negative is the road in and out of Stanmer. It’s an assault course of extreme potholes. Suddenly I felt like having a coffee, so I found this restaurant. It’s a newly renovated place with very elegant décor. Unfortunately, I was still quite full; otherwise, I would definitely have tried their cakes and bread. I only ordered two cups of coffee, which turned out to be pretty good — rich and aromatic. The only drawback is that the location is a bit out of the way, and if you drive there, parking nearby costs £1.70 per hour. Still, I think it’s worth it because the environment is beautiful, the restaurant is clean, and it’s definitely worth a try. Delightful hidden gem! I love the cafe here and they have some great gluten free options (although they do often sell out). The shop is wonderful and sells lots of local produce and lovely plants. It’s definitely worth visiting if you’re passing!
