Lovely little village. Very different from the other 'villages from the middle ages' in Slovakia. Unfortunately most of the information signs were in Slovakian, without any English. But nevertheless a town not to be missed. Parking can only be done in designated parkings, these cost from €1,- an hour up to €7,- a day. Cicmany, Slovakia, offers traditional beauty that reminds me of villages in Indonesia, with wooden adorned with unique, vibrant patterns. The peaceful and calm atmosphere is perfect for reflecting on inner peace, similar to the values of Islam that teach tranquility. The surrounding natural beauty and refreshing hiking trails make me feel like I'm in my hometown. This blends local culture and universal values that feel familiar to my life as a Muslim from Indonesia. Čičmany is a picturesque located in Slovakia. It is known for its unique wooden that are traditionally decorated with white geometric patterns. If you're going past, then pop in, walk up and down. Lots of well preserved old cottages with traditional markings. Confusing parking system. Not really worth spending more than an hour. A unique spot, UNESCO heritage site due to its traditionally decorated houses. Unfortunately its great touristic potential is not developed well enough, and usually you'd just finish the visit and move on within less than an hour. Lovely nested in the mountains, well worth the detour to admire the folk architecture and taste the local cuisine. Limited parking spots, payment via sms (with instructions in english). Small wooden painted village. Very touristic place! Just good to pass when it is on your way. Čičmany is an artistic, créative you can walk through. Wooden covered in white geometric patterns. It’s small, quiet, and réal, not polished for tourists. I came by public transport from Bratislava—long ride, but worth it. The is quiet on a regular day, old traditions feel that they are not forced. Tips for fellow wanderers: – Walk slow. The magic isn’t in one house but in how the whole fits together. – Bring cash. Not every café or shop museum takes cards. – Talk to locals if you get the chance. Some will share stories about the painted symbols—protection, love, harvest. Makes the patterns feel alive. – Don’t rush. A quick photo stop won’t cut it. Sit on a bench, listen to the silence, let the hills wrap around you. You can also visit thé muséum, one of the original surviving houses, and it's worth it. Čičmany goes on top of my list for the most artistic traditional in Europe. Not grand, not flash, but authentic.
